So I am pretty tall, being 5’8 and relatively thin, but I have a very short waist. I cannot find anything that looks decent these days because everything is flowy and cropped, which looks really silly on me and accentuates how small the distance between my ribs and hips really are, as well as just looks stupid on me since I do have breasts. Peplum looks hideous, and now that fall is approaching, sweaters and cardigans are my friend: but I haven’t ever really liked the way the belts sit around my waist! Also, when I gain the slightest bit of weight, that is exactly where it goes… so I am always trying to keep that part of me as fat free since as I can since it shows a lot. Plus, tucking a shirt in can be a challenge! Ugh.
Anyone else here short waisted? What styles do you like or prefer for your shape? Have you found any tops recently that work for you? Do you just want to commiserate on how hard it can be to shop for a short waist + boobs and hips?!

I have the same problem! I usually find myself wearing the layered look. I like wearing a fitted long sleeve tee with a different color cami underneath it. I don’t know that it looks all that good but I feel like it shows off my curves because they are lost in flowy tops. 🙁 I can usually dress it up pretty well with different scarfs and jewelry so its office appropriate.
I’m interested in hearing what others have to say.

I’m also short-waisted and busty, although I wish my hips were wider. For me, I find that low-waisted anything is my best friend. Obviously, not the 2000’s, right-at-the-hairline low, but I like bottoms that fasten a couple inches below my belly-button for sure. Wearing a structured shirt that tucks into said bottoms also looks very flattering.
The other thing I love is v-necks! They’re always super-flattering. Longer shirts in general that hit the hip bone look nice too. 🙂

@Mrs_Amanda: I know I’m late to this, but I’d just like to say that I share your pain! I know exactly how you feel (minus having boobs- what are they?). Being short waisted sucks. Belting things, which is supposed to make you look skinnier looks horrendous, and tucking shirts looks pretty awful too. I too gain weight in my stomach first. That combined with a short waist is killer- there’s just no wiggle room!
