Hi ladies! I was wondering if anybody is planning on wearing shorts or something similar under their dress to prevent thigh rub/chafing? My thighs rub together and I know under my hot satin dress, it is going to be a problem. Even during my fittings I had sweat dripping down my legs after like 45 minutes just standing there.
I was thinking like bike shorts or cheer shorts? I don’t want to wear shapewear since that is just way too constricting for me.

pharmy: I bought some jockey shorts that were listed as a slip. They didn’t do much for slimming, but they were very light, very breathable, very comfortable and kept me from chaffing.

I think you’re looking for compression shorts – that’s what I always wear under skirts to prevent the dreaded “chub rub.” Mine are Under Armour, but I’m sure there are other brands available. Dicks Sporting Goods would be a good place to check, or any other athletics store.

Nike shorts are also a great alternative too!

Unless you have a ballgown, bike shorts will definitely show through the dress. I ended up wearing spanx for that reason, but the spanx I got wear super thin (I think they are called trust you thinstincts), and really comfortable. They didn’t provide as much support as the thicker kinds, but I didn’t want that.
Another suggestion that my seamstress made was to buy a pair of panty hose and cut them so they are like shorts. Looking back, I probably should have just done that (my mom bought me the spanx, but they were pricy).

pharmy: I picked up something like this:
http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/jockey-skimmies-anti-static-slip-shorts-2121?ID=1169507&CategoryID=225#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D8%26kws%3Djockey%20shorts%26slotId%3D7
To wear under the dress I wore for my engagement pictures, they were so stretchy and light I’ll defintiely be wearing something like this under my dress for my May ’15 wedding!

What kind of dress do u have? I wore spanx and found them very comfortable… You might want to give them a try in different styles and maybe order one sizd up for comfort.

You could wear a pair of pettipants. They are exactly like a slip- only pants. They are not tight and hot. They allow air flow.

pharmy: I had the same exact problem! I wore white Under Armour compression shorts – you couldn’t see them under my dress and they helped a lot.

Thank you ladies! I will look into all of these options!
My first dress is a light tulle ballgown, but I’m not worried about sweating so much in that one as my reception dress which is a pleated satin fit and flare that is fairly heavy.
