@plumplant:  IMO, I feel that is very promy..you can incorperate gold into what he is wearing in a more subtle way. Like gold cufflinks. If his bowtie does have gold, just make it minimal.

I would go for a more classic look with the gray. You could do a pop of gold with a pocket square or his boutonniere.

Grey.  Don’t match him to the gown, unless you’re doing a soft shoe during the vows.
