I LOVE everything about my gown, but am considering adding straps. Its the Vera Wang Hayley dress, and I have seen other Vera dresses with beautiful chiffon straps that look gorgeous. This dress has draped chiffon on the bodice and could be extended to form a strap- was assured by the store.
So what do you think? Will a shoulder strap look too busy with the cascading chiffon in the skirt? And if I add 1 shoulder, should the strap be diagonal from the cascading petals or on the same side?
Excuse the creepy photoshopping 😉
Dress with 2 straps
Dress with 1-shoulder strap on left (same side as cascading petals in skirt)
Dress with 1-shoulder strap on right (opposite cascading petals in skirt)

I think it would look too busy if you added straps.

Your dress is beautiful as is 🙂

The double strap is pretty, but your dress is fantastic as it is!

I think your dress is gorgeous as is but I think it would look really pretty with the 2 straps as well! I think it is all up to you and what you want. Make sure to show us pics if you change it 🙂

I think the double straps will be beautiful – i like straps like that. but it’s really beautiful as is. If you really want to have straps and have your heart set on them then I say add them, but if not I say keep it as is.

Thanks for all the advice! I have to admit that I really want to add the double straps and am trying to convince myself not to (just because the dress is so beautiful and I don’t want to mess it up!).
For those who voted no straps- explain?

I voted no straps because I think it will be too busy. It’s sooo gorgeous and beautiful as it is, I’d just be worried you’d lose some of your “wow” factor. Just my .02.

I like it better with 1 strap (the last picture) that is so pretty, not too over the top or anything and adds just a little something extra!

i like it with straps. strapless is so common i think the straps add a little extra flair. i voted for 2 straps but i also like the look of one strap.

If you’re going with straps, I vote for 2 straps..but I love the dres as is.

I would totally do one strap on the right. So pretty and just enough “extra”!

I think the double strap idea is ethereal and lovely. I’d probably not include the “knots” at the top, but rather keep the addition smooth throughout.
I realize this thread’s pretty old – have you decided what to do?

TWO STRAPS! It looks soo good that way. I personally think the one strap, on either side, looks too ballarina-y
