Oh no, please do not alter the neckline. It is perfect as is and you will lose some beautiful detail by changing it to a traditional sweetheart.

Ugh. Gorgeous dress, looks great on you. Maybe a bit long? Maybe can be a bit tightened just under the breast, but girl it looks great! Give us a twirl though to be sure of the fit 😀

Gorgeous! I’d leave it as is. Maybe it’s just the photos, but I don’t think it really looked any more modest with the modified sweetheart neckline.

    emdeebee :

I’m usually all for modesty but the neckline of that dress is kind of made for the dress  and is perfectly tasteful , though plunging . So I’d leave it . Or possibly slip a semi sheer panel behind the plunge?

emdeebee :  I’d be really nervous about altering the dress in that fashion – there’s a significant risk that the cups won’t sit the way you’d like or that the shape of them gets ruined, and pinning it won’t give you a good idea of what the final product will look like.

    Gorgeous dress by the way!!

I’m clearly in the minority, but I hate plunging necklines like this so I’d far prefer it as a traditional sweetheart. I don’t even care about modesty, I just think it looks better.

I personally can’t stand illusion necklines (I feel like they choke me like an invisible turtleneck…lol…), so I’d opt for altering it since the second picture still seems to preserve the sweetheart style of the neckline while getting rid of the sheer illusion fabric.

Your dress is gorgeous though, so I would feel confident in it whatever you decide! 🙂

emdeebee :  The most important thing is that YOU love it and feel comfortable in it. I know that if it were me, I’d be second guessing the plunge too. I think altering it would make all the difference and would still preserve all the beauty of the original dress, and I’d definitely try it before buying a whole new dress. I second guessed my dress a lot until I had it altered, too.

I wouldn’t alter it like that.  You can however put white fabric behind the lace so that there’s no skin showing.
