I know this is a really random question but I just wanted to know from people who might have been/currently are servers…
Tonight, me and my girlfriends (group of 5) went out to a popular restaurant in town. It was obvious the restaurant was pretty overwhelmed but there did seem to be enough servers (& we had a reservation). Our server was obviously very new. He forgot to bring water, completely forgot our drink orders and we were sitting there for almost an hour before we even ordered. Anyways, when the food comes my dish wasn’t what I ordered (at this point I actually would have just eaten it except it was a bacon pasta when I had ordered a salad and I hate bacon). Since our server was nowhere in sight I quickly asked another girl to double check. It was fixed and because it was just a salad it came out quickly but our poor server (big dude) was almost shaking when he placed it on the table! When he offered us cheese/pepper you could tell he was pretty upset.
Besides forgetting the stuff at the beginning, he was extremely extremely curteous, came to check up on us and was so apologetic about the meal mix up. I ended up giving him a 100% tip because I felt like someone might have said something to upset him.
Would it be worthwhile to call the restaurant and let them know how very nice he was? I just can’t help thinking that by sending my dish back that he got in trouble!
