If you have sold/purchased you wedding gown online or via consignment or any other way I NEED your help!!!
I have a NEW wedding gown by a well known couture designer that I am looking to sell, but Im getting a little frustrated and need some advice. Basically it was the classic case of dress regret and I went ahead and purchased another gown. Ive been trying to sell this gown for 6 months now and Im going bananas =P
I enlisted the help of a local business who listed the gown online for a small fee so its been listed on preownedweddingdresses, oncewed, recycledbride, ebay and here ofcourse! The great thing about them was that you pay a small one off fee and they set it all up, but there was NO commission on the final purchase price. Ive gotten heaps of inquiries, but between scammers and low ballers only 50% have been genuine brides. Basically im sooooo sick of answering emails etc and also dealing with difficult brides- including one who rearranged twice to meet up and then try to lowball me into selling it to her for 10% of the purchase price (I have it listed currently for 60% of the purchase price)- this is a NEW, never worn gown from a popular couture designer AND from a recent collection. She then started cussing me when I wouldnt sell it to her and then got worked up and started crying hysterically…
Umm yeah so I was thinking of consigning the gown because we are moving soon and I want to avoid any more drama, but I was shocked to learn that the commission is 50% of the selling price. Has anyone had any success in going this route? I would love to find a consignment place that has LESS commission and is experienced with couture wedding dresses because I really need to recoup 60% of the purchase price to pay back my mother because she paid the deposit.
Any advice or recommendation would be very much appreciated!!!
