    It sounds like he didn’t think through his proposing, and is now back pedaling. He’s stringing you along.

    If being married is what you want, in your heart, well then you damn-well deserve it. You have every right to want to be married to the man you love. 

    That being said, he sounds like he is stringing you along and/or just doesn’t want to be married, and is going back on everything he promised.

    Whether it’s because he simply doesnt want to be married cuz he no longer believes in it, OR doesn’t want to be married to *you* specifically, what remains unsaid is that this type of arrangement generally doesn’t work for women. I don’t know any woman who doesn’t want to be married and in a secure relationship with the person she loves.

    If being married is what you want (and you have every right to want to be married), then id say that breaking off this engagement would be the right decision for you.
