Just FWIW, the ‘kids party’/ group babysitter thing is something that I have seen done, and that I even participated in as a child and young adult babysitter. Maybe it’s more common for larger families, but my parents & aunts and uncles would rent out one big hotel room, pay one babysitter, and drop all the kids off in that room with sleepingbags, a boombox, and some movies and popcorn so they could all go out for the night for a negligible per person cost. Then they would go back to their own hotel room down the hall (!) and pick the kids up in the morning. It was great! We got a big sleepover and the parents got a nice night out.
However, I don’t see this being a particularly fun event for my fiance’s– what are they?– second cousins once removed, since they won’t know anyone else there.
My fiance, god love him, has asked for an open bar and a carving station, and other than those two things said he doesn’t care about anything else and has backed up every decision I have made 100%. He said he would be fine with whatever decision I made here and would talk to his dad if I want him to. But I don’t want to start things out with anyone feeling resentful… I’m just going to invite them and hope they don’t come.
