I have a rule, if I don’t hear from a vendor within 3 days of my first email, I nix them. There is enough technology these days that there is no reason that someone cannot respond “I am very busy at the moment, I appreciate your email and will respond to you within the next 5 days.” That’s an email that takes less than one minute to type.

As someone who owns their own business, I make a point to get back to clients (whether it’s a lengthy email, or one saying that I will get back to them) no more than 12 hours from when they first contact me.

I’d steer clear, you’re better off with someone else. If they’re not worried about getting in touch with you now, what about when you have a question a week from the wedding and they won’t answer?

I would find a new one.  I mean if they are not responsive even before they have your money….can you imagine how you will be treated once they have your money?  There are plenty of choices….

@PacificMrs:  mmm it depends where they are though. In all honesty, there are several vendors in mexico who take longer to reply…but do fantastic and beautiful work.they tend to get more efficient closer to the wedding

seems hawaii has vendors who are a bit similar. i wouldnt tolerate it in the US/Canada/UK though

@newname_99:  I agree. Where are you getting married? Is it an english speaking country? If it isn’t they may have to wait until an employee with english language skills comes in.

@SimpleGifts:  ah ok. well unfortunately jamaican vendors seem to be similar to mexican ones (judging from posts ive seen on best destination wedding forums)

in fact, i would look for reviews of this vendor on that website google best destination wedding,  i tried to post a link but it didnt work. you can see other people’s experiences with them. you can also contact other vendors and see if theyre more efficient

good luck! and dont let the relax attitude make you crazy!

look at this thread..you are not alone! i love that website btw!

@SimpleGifts:  It is just Island time then. Things are done at a much slower rate and they don’t understand the Western worlds preoccupation with getting a response right now. It is just a different mindset and unfortunately if you want to work with them (and possibly other vendors in that country) you just have to accept it.

If you think it might be too hard to handle you could try an American or European hotel chain owned hotel in Jamaica. They often have senior staff from europe or america but they may have acclimitised to Island time as well.
