- Wedding: April 2013
My wedding is April 12, 2013 and we still don’t have a caterer. The one I want to use – the owner is fantastic and extremely accomodating. Well, today when I went into speak with him, he wasn’t available, so the manager said she would answer any questions I had. Well, this a restaurant and they rarely do full-catering for off-site events, but the owner said it wouldn’t be an issue. However, the manager told me that I would need to bring my own dishes, glasses, and silverware (?) and that an hour isn’t enough time for them to clean up unless I wanted to pay for ten servers. (We have to be out of our venue by 10:30).
There are 80 people invited to the wedding, so that’s not huge… and the venue takes care of the actual clean-up (i.e. mopping the floors, moving tables, etc.) so all the caterer would need to do is clean up the kitchen and bus tables (and what is associated with that). Well, I was thinking of getting disposible dishes and silverware (our wedding isn’t very formal) so this would make clean-up easier and quicker for them. Is that tacky?
Also, she was pretty rude to me and even asked why I would choose a venue where I had to “bring everything in” and said ‘I would never do that as a bride.” This really upset me. I mean, I love my venue, but even if I didn’t I’d be stuck with it anyway. I guess I’m just freaking out since it’s almost December and I have no caterer yet. Sure, I could go somewhere else, but I really, really want to use this caterer.
Did anyone else have issues with catering? Any suggestions?
