Okay bees, I’ve been thinking about posting this topic for a little while now. I *love* my rings, but my wedding band is driving me nuts lately. I believe it’s called a shadow band, and it basically just has grooves in it where it matches right up with my engagement ring. I thought it would fit a lot more securely than it does, but it moves around so much!! So I’ve been contemplating on getting the two soldered together, or maybe even getting another band. I’m attached to my wedding band though, since it’s the one DH actually put on my finger on our wedding day. These few pics show the notches in the e-ring & the grooves in the wedding band. Would you solder, or what other solution would there be? Thanks bees!!

Sorry these are huge!

@roweboat: my jeweller told me that soldering rings would minimize damage due to movement of thw rings. so I would personally solder your rings together, although I’m not sure how that works when there is a gap between the rings? definately take it to a jeweller you trust and ask lots of questions first!

Solder the rings together and then it won’t move around anymore. My jeweler soldered a small area od the bottom of the rings together (on the palm side.) It doesn’t show and it’s easily undone without damaging the settings if I want to get them taken back apart.

@trainergirl: There’s not normally a gap in them, it’s probably just the way I took the pictures. The crappy part is we got the rings custom made by a jeweler back home, so I’m hesitant to trust anyone here with the rings.

@beachbride1216: How long did it take your jeweler to solder yours? A girl I work with told me her rings were gone for 3-4 weeks :-

I had mine back the next day. I used Helzberg at the local mall. 3-4 weeks is unacceptable for a process that literally takes all of 2 minutes to complete.

@beachbride1216: I might have to check out the mall here, there is a jeweler there that we like. I couldn’t wait 3-4 weeks!

@roweboat: I haven’t actually had mine soldered yet. We are currently waiting on my wedding band to come in (longest 6 weeks of my life I swear). However, they said they could do it in store because they have a metalsmith on staff and it would be returned to me on the same day.
ETA: Sorry, read the wrong post. If your rings are custom any chance you would have the opportunity at some point to have the original jeweller do the work?

I am all for soldering, and plan to have mine soldered (no matter how well they fit) once I have them all on my finger forever! Find a local jeweler that has someone in-store that can solder them while you wait (or leave for a couple of hours).

@trainergirl: Maybe later this year, once we travel back home for a while. DH seems to think there are a couple of stores in the mall here that might be okay, though. He’s more picky than I am so if he’s cool with it, I would be, too. Lol
