malouloune:  Some brides might find it weird, but I don’t. Honestly I was engaged to someone and I broke it off mid-planning. A few years later I met and got enagged to someone new and rather than get a whole new dress (my mom bought my dress for nearly 600 bucks plus the veils), I wore the same dress I had when I was going to marry my ex.

I had no desire to go dress shopping again as I hated the experience the first time (even though I made it reletively easy for myself and purchased the first dress I tried on after scouring DB for a month or so). Darling Husband couldn’t have cared less that I wore a dress bought for a wedding that never happened. What was important was OUR marriage to each other πŸ™‚

malouloune:  I honestly think it’s a little weird. If it’s just the dress you really wanted before but didn’t wear, it would be fine, but if it’s the dress you wore down the aisle already, yeah, I’d object to that.

If your soon-to-be-fiance had been engaged before and gave you the same ring he had given to his previous Fiance, would you mind? I would – different woman, different ring. For me, the dress is the same, different groom, different dress.

OMG I’m so glad to see this post!! I’m so happy you’ve found love again! I know that some people find it weird to wear a dress you picked out while engaged to someone else but I remember your dress journey and this dress was made for you!! If you still love it and it makes you happy, then get it. I don’t think you’ll regret it πŸ™‚

MOHlookingForIdeas:  she never wore it. She was already married but they didn’t have a wedding and that’s what she was planning when she bought the dress. They broke up and got a divorce before the wedding. Hope that makes sense lol

IzzyBear:  Oooh, I misunderstood. So long as you didn’t wear it down the aisle, I’d say it’s okay to rewear it.

I think it’s fine!  It’s the dress you love!  And you’ll be comparing every other dress you try on to this one anyway.

You look GORGEOUS. Go for it! If that’s your wedding dress, it’s your wedding dress!

Normally I’d advise against purchasing a dress before you’re engaged but OH MY GOD that dress looks amazing on you. BUY IT! And then hide it so he doesn’t think you’re crazy.

Oh wait, I see your most recent comment that you bought it. Good for you! That dress is HOT.

malouloune:  I don’t think it’s weird – it’s the dress you want to be married in.  If it was your ex’s mothers dress or in some way directly tied to your ex it might be weird, but in this case I don’t think so.

That said, I personally wouldn’t buy the dress before I was engaged.
