- Wedding: October 2013
I need some serious dress advice!
Our wedding is in Oct. 2013, so I am not looking for a dress too seriously yet, but the other day when I was out with my Future Mother-In-Law we stopped by a bridal salon just for fun and I tried on some dresses. I tried on this dress, and we both LOVED it:
(I tried it on without the sash, and didn’t know that there was a potential sash until I looked the dress up online later)
She loved it so much that she called my mom and my dad, and we all went back later to see it again. They both loved it too (even though my dad had previously said that all the dress will look to same to him and he wouldn’t care).
Now, here are all the problems:
-The dress is discontinued, and we would have to buy the sample. The one I tried on was a size 16, and I’m a bridal size 2. I wouldn’t be able to order the dress in my size. We could call around to various stores, but I doubt we’d find a small enough sample dress. The saleswoman was adamant that their seamstress could make it fit me perfectly, but I’m pretty apprehensive.
-We are getting married in a stately, historic, grandiose venue in October in Michigan. This dress may be too ethereal and summer-y and fairy-like for our wedding. I know that most people believe you can have whatever dress you like in whatever venue you like, but I really love our venue and it suits our personalities very well, so I want the dress to reflect that and fit in with the overall feel of the space.
-This dress is nothing like what we’ve been looking at so far. I was sure that I wanted something strapless with minimal detail, based on what I liked in pictures and what I think/have read will best flatter me. Also, I’m worried that the drop waist will make my legs look short.
Please please please help me decide what to do! Like I said, the dress is discontinued, so if I want it I can’t wait too long.
