@speechgal44:  I wouldn’t feel obligated to do anything 🙂

Nope you don’t know them, and it clearly isn’t an important family member/friend. Send a card if you want!

She’s making your cake… I would send a gift to her FDIL. If she is close enough to Fiance to do your cake, maybe she wants to get to know you better too? It’s a weird way to go about it, but… I dunno, that’s a huge favor. I’d send something.

@soontobeMrsBoo:  Wait, spinning off this…

….@speechgal44:  Is she a vendor you hired because you were acquainted with her, or is it a favor? I assumed the former, but if it’s the latter, MrsBoo is on to something

I wouldn’t go. A lot of women just invite every lady on their guest list because they don’t want to exclude anyone. If you feel really guilty, send Fiance to work with a nice set of dishtowels and your regrets.

@speechgal44:  ooooohhhh, tricky. I guess I would still say don’t go. You’ve never met the girl in question! It just sounds awkward.

ETA: If you’re not sure, she’s probably not either… You guys should really agree on something before it becomes a game of who-will-bring-it-up-first chicken. She might want to charge you, but thinks you expect it for free or something, so also unsure how to bring it up.

If she’s making your cake I probably wouldn’t go but at least send a small gift/card.
