I would say depends on your budget, would you really trust him/her. I like to plan my stuff it is very time consuming but I think well worthi it.

I’m hiring a day-of coordinator and it’s great!  The lady I’m hiring is going to get my vendor list 3 weeks prior to the event and make sure everything is in order and she’ll be with me the whole day!  I think it’s a great stress-reliever for the day of.

I hired a wedding coordinator because I’m planning from far away and I’m working on a PhD thesis at the same time so I don’t have much free time. She’s been extremely helpful in finding vendors. She asks me what we want and how much we want to spend (on, say, flowers, or DJ, or cake, etc), then she emails me a list of options and then calls me on the phone to discuss the options and then we choose who we want, then she sends us the contract and we sign it and send it directly to the vendor along with the deposit. She’ll also coordinate the events on the day of the wedding, so I won’t have the stress of thinking about what’s supposed to happen when and where and with who and all that stuff. Definitely a lifesaver. Though we’re also doing a bunch of things ourselves (wedsite, STD, invitations are being done by fiance’s sister, etc).

If your budget allows for hiring a planner (whether full planner, or partial planner, or day-of planner) and you want to take a bit of the wedding planning stress off your shoulders, I say go for it 🙂

i think it depends on how many guests you have, vendors you have, and extraordinary details that you have planned and want details executed in a certain way. if you have a friend who is really organized they may be able to assist you with the same duties a doc would.

Yes Yes Yes-at least hire a day of/month of coordinator! I used the fab Mrs. Emerald aka Charlene of SweetChic Inc http://www.sweetchicevents.com I can’t imagine how stressful my day would have been without her!
