I don’t see how in the world it would be “offensive”, but I am among the crowd that doesn’t get having performers at the reception. It’s a wedding, not a circus- what does a dance performance have to do with celebrating a marriage? To each their own, I guess!

I don’t get how it would be offensive. However, we had Irish dancers at our wedding because my husband’s sister does Irish dancing and we invited some of her Irish dancing friends to perform. It was amazing! Although, I don’t really get hiring dancers to perform…we did it because it was a huge part of his family growing up. I think it would be very strange if you just invited some randoms to perform (don’t forget that you probably need to pay for their seats and food).

Also, I am not at all Irish but very German and didn’t think for a second that I needed to hire someone to do something German to “balance” out the reception. If you aren’t involved in something then why suddenly represent it at the wedding? Seems bizarre.
