I voted no but changed my mind after reading your post! Admittedly, I voted quickly without reading/assumed you just found the ring box and wanted to peak.

We ordered a stone online and I was a nervous wreck. He hasn’t proposed yet, but he let me check it out. Luckily, I did because it actually had a big old flaw in it that he never would have noticed! We were able to ship it back and have the stone replaced 🙂 When we got it back, I checked it out again and then he put it away/hid it. I want to be surprised for the proposal, but have no regrets about checking it out real quick….especially if you already know what it looks like!

Given your situation, I would go ahead and look. I say this because it seems like you two are already doing this together and your ring really isn’t a surprise, meaning you had input and helped with ordering the ring. So I really don’t think it would make much of a difference at this point to look at it and make sure you love it. The alternative if he proposes and you end up not liking it and being disappointed is worse.

I mean… There won’t really be a surprise anyway because you picked it out

socalbee88:  Yes, especially if there is a return window. If you hate it, you guys can return it and get something you like. It’s just a ring, the proposal can still be a surprise 🙂

Yes I would have a peek at the stone if I was in your position – it’s too exciting to wait when the stone is literally an arm’s lenght away! Do it! 😋

Then I would make sure he is going to propose within that period, or look now so that you have the option of returning, just in case.

If he is going to propose within 30 days, don’t look. If not, look

socalbee88:  as your ultimate ring twin, I can assure you it will be amazing and incredible. Pictures online don’t do it justice at all. Wait until he proposes. It’ll be worth it!

I am in a similar situation!  I helped pick out the ring at the early stages but haven’t seen it since.  I know it’s hidden in our house somewhere now, and it is killing me to want to check and see.  I am a perfectionist and I am constantly changing my mind about things so I am worried to see it to see if I still like it or not!

It is hard for me to take my own advice, but I suggest waiting to be surprised for it, as it will make that moment that much better for you.  I’m sure you will love it!  It sounds great.

    Ooooo this is haaaaaard.

I would weigh the return window/when the proposal is happening with if he says it passes muster, i.e.: did he see anything ‘wrong’ or alarming with it? If he’s super happy and you trust his judgment with this kind of thing AND given the proposal time it could always be returned.. I’d wait. Just because: it won’t be that long, and it’ll give you that moment of surprise that good planners like us kinda miss out on.

    It’ll be worth it!
