Does that fee include any kind of donation or honorarium for the pastor?

@MrsGatito:  are you sure the $800 is not the “suggested donation” already?

We had a ceremony in a Catholic Church and there was no fee but tere was a “suggested” donation amount of $500

@MrsGatito:  Our priest broke down the price of everything. It came to $500 total with a suggested donation of $100. We’re going to give them a total of $1000 because everyone was super nice & I thought the donation he suggested was entirely too low.

Maybe your fee includes the suggested donation already? Have you asked?

@Daizy914:  +1.

What our church refers to as our “donation” is actually our mandatory fee of about $850.  That includes an actual donation for the church, plus fees for music and a few other things.  We’re not being asked to make a donation in addition to that, beyond what we donate at church each week.

The fee of $500 was our “donation” I would recommend asking if the $800 is a also considered a donation.

We paid $500 for our church, and that included a donation!

@MrsGatito:  Were you assigned a wedding coordinator? I would ask her what the 800 covers? We paid 500 to the church 150 for music and gave 100 to the priest. So we knew our 750 was being dispersed properly.

I just paid a fee.  It wasn’t a donation, it wasn’t something that I could claim on my taxes.
