All of the pretty places around here charge a fee to use their facilities for wedding photos – upwards of $200. I know my photographers would rather shoot outside, so if its sunny on my wedding day, we might never even use the rain location. My photographers indicated that we could stand under bridges and porchs, and possibly use hotel lobbies for pictures, in case of rain, but will that be enough? I have a Catholic gap so there is a lot of time for pictures and my photographers are expensive, so I want to make sure I get my moneys worth? What shoud I do? What was your rain plan?
Also, I have to book these indoor locations a few weeks/months ahead of time, so I can’t just turn up the day of and pay.

I’m a big fan of covering all the bases, so yes, I would get it.

If there is a particular place that you really would love for indoor photos, then I say go for it and have the photographer take photos there regardless of whether or not it rains. It sounds like you will have enough time to get both indoor and outdoor shots and this way your bases are covered if it does rain.

Always have a backup plan. The first wedding of our season this year was in the Agoura Hills in Los Angeles, a place not thought of for rain. It poured. They had the capacity to do indoor stuff at the venue so they were fine, but you honestly never know. If your formal groupings for photos are large you might want to consider the permit.
