THat’s a hard one, but I would keep your original date, If for no other reason than you’ve waited so long and you deserve your wedding already!!

i wouldnt change the date – trust me, there are people that are going to say they will be there but as the date gets closer they will back out. you wont be able to get a date that will please everyone so pick a date and stick to it

Well, I don’t know if you have issues with his side or not, but anyone who wouldn’t come to their son’s wedding when they originally said that they could, may not have come either way. I completely agree with Eloping ^^ that there is aleays going to be 25 to 30% of those that you invite that will not show up. If it is a priority to them, then they will come (excluding the women who are preggers, but there’s always going to be someone who will not be able to travel that far away for whatever reason…)

Thailand is a big huge enormous deal.  I’m sorry for the tough love, but you yourself said you decided to go to Europe and then couldn’t afford XYZ for your own wedding…so there’s no reason you should expect that other people have been saving up so that they afford something like….like your wedding in Thailand.

My husband has an enormous amount of cousins.  It might be 45 cousins.  One of his uncles lives in Portugal, and he offered to pay for EVERY ONE OF HIS COUSINS (and their families) TO VISIT PORTUGAL for a family reunion.  Free trip to Portugal!!!  Free!!!  Only 8 of the 45 cousins made it, not us.  Newborn babies, taking a week off work, maybe you already booked other vacation days…flying across the world is a HUGE thing to ask.

So, bottom line, you chose Thailand.  Go with it, don’t reschedule!!  ….just never expect that a majority of your invites can make it.

Don’t reschedule. That’s a part of having a Destination Wedding.

I’d plan a reception (something simple!) for when you’re back home with all the people who couldn’t fly over!

I agree don’t cancel because no matter what its gonna be someone who can’t make it. Like a PP said just come back and have a small party/reception. Goodluck!!

Don’t change a thing!

People will always have conflicts.  You’re trying to find one weekend or week where 30-35 people all have an open spot and want to spend it on someone else’s wedding in a very far away country!

Relish your time with your honey and all the people who WILL be there instead of focusingon who ISN’T there!

Sounds like an amazing trip!
