I would… people will still want to buy gifts so at least then they can find out what you want.

I’d register for maybe a few things, but it’d be easier to spread what you want by word-of-mouth, imo. I’ve never seen someone set up a registry that wasn’t for a shower.

I registered even though I didn’t have a baby shower.  Some relatives and co-workers bought things off the registry when Addie was born, and I bought the rest of the things she needed with the completion coupon I received a couple weeks before she was born.

Thats true, even if no one goes on there to buy anything, you get the discount!

I was thinking the same thing for this. I’m not pregnant yet, but my mom doesn’t “believe” in baby showers. She thinks that they are bad luck (don’t ask). So, I always wondered if I should register even though I’m not going to be having a baby shower. Good point with the completion coupon!

I registered as well and I won’t be having a shower.  People have asked my mom what I’d like, so it makes things easier.  Plus, it lets me keep track of what I want/need.

We don’t traditionally do baby showers in our family but  my sister still registered when she had her first – it’s amazing how many people come out of the woodwork and are so generous when a baby arrives – and they don’t even expect cake in return! Wink

I would definitely register – gifts inevitably come even if there’s no baby shower!
