Yes totally go back to get it fixed. The warped situation would REALLY bother me! They should fix it for you for free!

I would ask about getting the warp fixed but whether or not they do it for free will depend on their company policy. They SHOULD fix the warp but the sizing is on you.

– You ARE justified asking them to fix the warp for free.

– You are NOT justified in asking them to size it up for free. They sized it to the size you requested.

In your shoes, I would probably still ask them to upsize for free (don’t ask, don’t get) but not expect it.

As for the sizing issue, you need to take both width AND type of band into consideration. I see you already took width into consideration, but another piece is whether the inside of the band (where it touches your skin) is flat-edged, or curved. If the inside is curved, there’s less metal touching your skin, and therefor people usually size down a little to get the same fit as a flat-edged ring. Is your wedding band curved on the inside?

Peaceoutboyscout :  $80 to make it smaller (take out gold) and then they made the back so thin. Yes I would go back! Horrible job

Peaceoutboyscout :  go back, your ring can be put on the mandrel and tapped with a jewellers hammer to both fix where the shape is wrong and make it 1/4 size bigger on the process. The jeweler shoukd be able to do this while you wait.

I’d expect them to do the resizing for free as an apology for stuffing it up in the first place. Resizing is a very easy change.

Take it back and have them fix the gold, as in even it out.  They’ve already shaved off too much, and while you’re there ask him to size you to get it perfect this time.

I dunno, I feel that when they’re resizing a ring for you they should work with you to make sure it will be the right size. And if your wedding band is a 6 and fits well, then I wonder whether they made this the wrong size? Also, $80 seems steep to me. I recently had my platinum ering resized for $50 and he did perfect work and did it in front of me in 20 mins – granted I’m in NYC so there’s lots of competition here, but it’s also a pricy city, so I’d be miffed about paying that much for shoddy work.

browneyedgirl24 :  She has explained that her band has a rounded shank while her ering has a flat one. If two rings are the same size, but one has a rounded shank, the one with the flat shank will feel about 1/4-1/2 size tighter. So they definitely sized it correctly. She just didn’t know about the shank differences ahead of time.

The same thing happened with my ering – I had sized myself by wearing around 2 flat-edged rings for a few months. My ering (rounded shank) came, and it felt much too large. We had to have it sized down 1/3 size, and it’s STILL a little loose.

OP definitely point out the poor workmanship and ask if they’ll fix it and size it back up a bit for free. No harm in asking.

duchessgummybunns :  Ah, gotcha, I missed that! Still, I’m surprised that the jeweler didn’t have her try on a sizing ring to make sure it was correct. Every jeweler I’ve been to for resizing has had me try on a couple sizes, looked at how they fit on my finger, asked me questions about fit, etc., before making adjustments.

Peaceoutboyscout :  I understand being upset about the not-great job they did, but you agreed to pay 80$ for the service, they didn’t spring that on you.  I don’t understand why you’re miffed about that part.
