Should I See My Ring Before He Proposes?

Grow up and be an adult and let him have this suprise.  You KNOW you’re getting married and you KNOW he has the ring.  Now, it’s a matter of being patient and having a little self control.

I absolutely LOATHE surprises, so not only would I not have wanted a surprise proposal, I would have wanted to see the ring beforehand.  Plus, if there was something wrong with the ring, there would then be opportunity to correct it before the proposal.

I’d try to chill out. Do some yoga or something.

If you ruin the surprise you can never get it back. You’re going to be looking at the ring every day soon. It’s only a surprise once.

I actually picked out my ring because we went looking together and I ended up wanting a specific ring which he wouldn’t have got otherwise. So the ring itself wasn’t a surprise but that’s fine with me. If you value the surprise factor, you should wait. Otherwise you might end up being disappointed with the proposal.

Plus he already has the ring, so it makes no difference if you see it now or at the proposal, it’s not like you’re choosing the ring. There’s also a chance if he shows you the ring and you’re trying it on (as you probably would), he might just decide oh well might as well just propose right here (especially if he’s had a few drinks), and I don’t think you would want that to happen.

I would be patient and not ask to see the ring. Fiancé and I designed mine together on the Natural Sapphire Company website and I suggested two modifications to the design and approved the resultant CAD images along the way. I was allowed to try it on, but only if I closed my eyes. Seeing the ring itself for the very first time after he got down on one knee was an incredibly special moment and well worth the wait!

We designed my ring together and I saw it when it came.  Then I found it’s hiding place and tried it on a few times when he wasn’t home.  Now it’s on my finger permanently and I still love it.

I saw my ring before hand and tried it on lol. We had a good laugh at how frantic I was about it, but I received it a few days after he brought it home.

Just wait!!! Save that initial surprise reaction for him when he gets down on one knee, not for your own personal enjoyment. I guarantee, 5, 10 years from now, you’ll be glad you waited.
