Our wedding is on a holiday weekend (the date above is wrong for privacy reasons). It’s not Christmas or New Years, but should I send Save-The-Date Cards anyway? All of our guests will be traveling from out of town (semi-destination wedding). Fiance doesn’t want to, but I just don’t know.

I think you should, since its a holiday and you will have travelling guests (which is the point of a save the date). They can be quite inexpensive (I paid $15 for 20, however I got 60!). Plus it shows courtesy and consideration for your guests.

@BoiledPNut: If you actually want people to attend I would. If you dont then dont. ESP on a holiday weekend.

I think you should so people have a heads up. Holiday weekends are tricky because people travel they make plans with family etc. So I would say if you want all the people you love to show up, you should give them ample time to plan for that and send out a STD.

I think the fact that it’s on a holiday weekend makes it even more vital that you send Save-The-Date Cards because people tend to make plans way in advance for holiday weekends.

I think you should so at the very least people don’t make other holiday plans.
If it’s the cost that is worrying him, Vistaprint is almost always running a sale where you can get like one hundred post card STD’s for free.
Or you can do online STD’s. Some of them are really, really cute.

I always like a little advanced notice when it’s a holiday wedding. An STD is always a convenience regardless, you can’t go wrong.

You definitely need to for any type of holiday, people usually make plans around holidays well in advance so if you want them at your wedding it’s best to send a save the date.

I would send them only because it’s a holiday weekend and since it’s a destination wedding and I think in many cases it’s nice to give potential guests a heads up so they can plan out their finances for travel.
