My wedding is a week away, and I’m still fretting about my hair. I have fairly thick hair (although I feel like it’s been shedding lately because of stress!) that has a natural wave to it. I almost always wear my hair with loose beachy waves, and I had a hair trial recently where I did a half-up, half-down style with waves . . . and clip-in extensions to add volume. It looked great!
However, as the wedding gets closer, I’m worrying about the extensions. I’ve never worn them out before, and I’m worried about all the things that could go wrong: they might fall out, someone might realize I’m wearing extensions, they won’t match the texture of the rest of my hair at the end of the night, they’ll give me a headache, etc. But if I don’t wear them, I’m worried I’ll look back on my wedding photos and think my hair just looked okay . . . not great.
So I guess my question is . . . did you wear clip-in extensions?? (The ones I got are also good quality.) Did you regret it? Do you regret not wearing extensions?
Thanks in advance!!

IMO, being comfortable on your wedding day is more important than photos you may look at annually. If you’re going to be self-conscious the whole day/night (which is what it sounds like – I would be too) with the clip-ins, leave them out.

Have you got time to wear them for a full day before the wedding?

I have clip in extensions that I wear every so often just for fun when I want longer hair and I have never had them fall out or had someone say oh shes wearing extensions. The main thing when it comes to clip in extensions is placement. Your hair stylist should be able to place them so that they are properly hidden, and then should be able to tease your hair/ put hair spray in to make sure that they hold tight. I think that you should put the extensions in for a day and just see if you are comfortable with them in.

Eh I’d skip it. I’m more in the camp that beauty is natural and that you should still look like yourself even for pictures. I’m sure you’ll look gorgeous no matter what

I have extensions that I have moved up every 8 weeks, before I got them I wore clip ins almost every day and never had an issues.
Since you had a hair trial I assume that you’re getting it done professionally, your hair stylist should be able to put them in well enough so that they don’t come out and aren’t visible.
I’d go for it.

I wouldn’t use the wedding as the first time you try something new such as new hair colour or makeup colour or anything that you’re going to have to think about or feel conscious about on the day.
I’m in the camp of look as much like yourself as possible, because you don’t want to look back years later and think well that doesn’t look like me or something I’d wear.

Though I had never worn extensions before, I did for my wedding (last Saturday). Also have thick hair naturally but wanted my hair to stay to the side and my natural length was a little too short. The extensions clipped in and I didn’t have any problem. Even slept in them and they still looked amazing! My hairdresser matched my color perfectly. I absolutely loved having mermaid hair for the day!

I wore clip ins for my updo! Turned out better than I thought! I did have hem professionally colored and cut to match my hair and look perfect so I would suggest having this done, I wore them a couple times for our destination wedding events

I’m planning to unless the stylist I chose really doesn’t think I should. My hair is really thinning out as I get older and I feel like I really want the look of more hair for my pictures.
I am with people that suggest wearing them for at least a day, I’d suggest more like a week, especailly if you plan on wearing a full set. They can get pretty heavy and make your scalp sore, so it’d be nice to get used to them before your big day. I have some and I don’t think I made it the first day without taking them out because my scalp was so sore, so definitely build some tolerance up!

Do it!!! You’re having a professional doing your hair so trust him/her to do their job right 🙂

moonlightswims : Go for the extensions! I had clip-ins for my wedding as my hair is VERY FINE and it added so much volume and romance to my updo. I have been making my own clip in extensions for 10 years and chilled in the salon chair sewing wefts to clips depending on where my stylist was placing them. It was very relaxing.

I got my hair colored about 4 days before my wedding and I brought my extensions in at that time and my hair stylist colored them at the same time as my hair and cut them to work with my hairstyle. They were not uncomfortable, and I think they looked nice. I would definitely do it again.

moonlightswims : I did! I don’t normally wear them – like you, I’d only ever had them in for my trial. I used them for length and volume and don’t regret it at all! The only ones who realized I was wearing extentions are my bridesmaids because they saw the stylist put them in. D.H. was surprised when I was complaining about them the next day (they were comfortable, but I slept in them because I wanted to wear them to brunch the next morning – don’t recommend!!!!).
