So I did what I never thought I’d do, and made a fake name because my identity here is pretty public, but I’m a “Bumble bee” and pretty active on the boards.
Anyway, I am kind of freaking out that I might be pregnant. I am on Nuvaring and took it out on Tuesday. I usually take it out Monday night so I was a little delayed on that. Still, my period usually comes within several hours. It’s never taken longer than about a day. It’s four days later and there’s nothing, not even the cramps and other PMS symptoms I usually have before my period.
The thing is, Fiance and only had sex a couple times in the past month because we are long distance, and both times he didn’t “go” inside. So while I’m somewhat freaking out, a big part of me is thinking there’s absolutely no way that I could be pregnant, and that spending $25 on a pregnancy test would be a waste of money.
…So, do you think I should be freaking out?

Everyone will probably hate me for suggesting this, but the cheap-o pregnancy tests at the dollar stores work well. If you buy two and get two positives, then I’d suggest making an appointment with your doctor for a blood test.
Also, was the ring up where it should be? I know that that can affect the potency of the hormones.

How long have you been on the Nuvaring? I know for me, that the longer on BC I was, the later my period was. It seems sort of early that it would come a few hours after taking the Nuvaring out. For me, sometimes I didn’t get my period until the first week back on BC.

I was 10 days late & not preggo, so it just could be a fluke. I would wait until you were a week late & then test. Or if you can’t wait, take a test in the morning. Good luck & I hope you ge the results that you want.

I wouldn’t panic yet. Have you been on the ring for awhile? Your body could just be going through something, you could be stressed. But I’m very regular on my BC pill and every once in awhile I’ll be late by a few days.

I’m not on any hormonal BC, but every few months I’ll have a period that’s seven to nine days late. I think my body has a reset pattern or something, haha. I’d relax and wait it out for a few more days. No worries. 🙂

@beekiss: I’ve thought about going to the dollar store… I might if there’s nothing by tomorrow.
@MissAsB: I’ve been on Nuvaring for about 9 months now, I think – BC for longer than that. It’s just that this has never happened before!
It very well could be a fluke, as others have experienced, but I’m just nervous because it would NOT. BE. OKAY.

Uhm, so yeah, false alarm. Clearly I freaked out for no reason! Aunt Flo arrived today and boy, was I glad to see her! Thanks for the advice, everyone. I’m now done with my stint in anonymity 🙂

I think you should wait at least 14 days. Once my period was 7 days late and I took like a million tests and I wasnt preggo. Wait it out…..

I don’t know enough about the nuva ring to know how it might affect periods, but I know a woman’s normal cyles can vary a LOT, especially with stress (you know, like wedding planning stress :-P), so give it a little time and see what happens

Nah don’t worry yet. By The Way the big O can bring it on sometimes…. just sayin!

I don’t know anything about the nuvaring, but I’ve been on the birth control pill for five years and every so often (happened twice in the last year), I just didn’t get my period at all. I’ll take the active pills regularly like I’m supposed, then I’ll be on the placebo week, and AF just won’t come around. She always shows up the following month though! Sometimes our bodies are just strange!
