Get hair started right away, it can take quite awhile. Do makeup after your hair is done so that it’s fresh and doesn’t begin to melt or something from the heat tools/lights etc!

I think it really depends on the hairstyle. If you are having a style where your hair will be framing your face or a completely down look, I would get your makeup done first. If your hair will be fully pulled back, I would get your hair done first.

I had my makeup done first, because I wore my hair down, and this allowed the makeup artist to fully pull my hair back to do my makeup.

In my experience the bride always goes last so the hair/makeup is super fresh, I’ve never heard of a bride going first out of a group. As for whether the bride’s hair should be done before or after makeup, it really depends on the style. How are you having your hair?

    Hair first, then make-up.

In every wedding I’ve been in the bride went first so they didn’t worry about potentially rushing at the end.

I had my hair done first – a high ponytail using a clip in one – in the morning and our ceremony was 4pm. I think I was back at the B&B for 11 then had my makeup done about 12. It was all fine.

Generally, it’s advised you do hair first.  Between potentially spraying hair products that could get on your forehead/face and using heat-based styling tools that could potentially melt/cause perspiration, you want to have hair done first so it doesn’t potentially interfere with your makeup and cause you to have to redo it.

Bride is generally last (although in most of the weddings I’ve been in there has either been two MUAs and stylists – one for the bride and one for the bridesmaids OR bridesmaids did their own hair and makeup so there really wasn’t a first/last issue).  But it also depends on your schedule.  For example, if you’re planning to do a first look and aren’t doing photos beforehand with your bridal party, you may want to go first and your bridesmaids have that first-look time to finish getting ready instead of making them go even earlier.

My hair and makeup artist does hair first (I’m guessing because it holds better and it’s easier to eat when your hair is done, whereas makeup makes that challenging). The bride is done second last so that it’s fresh but not rushed.

My hair was done first and then makeup. I had a separate hair dresser and makeup artist. My makeup was done second to last

You want your hair and makeup to last longer but you also want time to get it right so in between is fine.

Makeup first then hair. That way the MUA can pin your hair back without worry and get your full face of makeup done.  And go in the middle. You don’t want to be rushed for your hair/makeup if they are running late.

My MUA usually does makeup first, I think it doesn’t matter as long as your MUA knows what she’s doing. Insisting her to take a different approach to the one she’s used to will just stress her out.

I have separate MUAs, one for bride, and one for everyone else. But if I have only one I should prefer to go first so that my MUA isn’t tired out from having done so many faces and rush mine to get it over with. Your makeup won’t fail you just because it’s done a couple hours early, if your MUA is skillful.

My hair was done first than my make up – My makeup artist suggested this be the case to avoid hairspray etc going on to my makeup.  My hair was done second to last and my make up was done last.
