I agree with MKWeddingBee. We also had a mini-moon at a nearby hotel for three long days and delayed our honeymoon for the end of this year. For us it was a lot to do with the fact that we were moving out of state a month after our wedding and couldn’t afford another trip.

At first I did feel sort of disappointed, but now, looking back on that mini-moon, I realize what I enjoyed the most was not traveling to another country/city but relaxing with my (now) husband after our crazy wedding day. It was also much nicer, I believe, because we knew we could just relax and hd no pressure as to visiting a new place, trying new food, or having to do all the awesome things you want to do when you travel to a new place. It was all love and joy during that mini-moon. Now that we got time to plan our honeymoon we are even more excited than we were during our wedding planning.

Also, if you’re planning on going to Japan, I read in many guides that it is best to avoid summer (June-August) because of the heavy rains and hot temperature. They usually suggest Autumn (October-December) because of the change of leafs and comfortable temperatures.

Usually the honeymoon is right after the wedding, but life happens. There are a lot of logistical reasons why the honeymoon may be postponed (e. g. finances, work schedules, etc.). It does sound like you’d prefer going in July, so if you can afford it, I don’t see anything wrong with doing the honeymoon in July. I’m sure you’ll still have fun next December even if you’re not traveling out of the country.

We’re going the monday after. I can’t fathom the idea of us both going back to work right after we get married without having that time to bask in it ourselves. To lay around and have sex all day and look googily at each other refering to each other as our “husband” and “wife” and calling each other Mr. and Mrs XXXX. We’ve only been together two years though so we’re definitely still in the honeymoon phase where on the weekends we have sex 4 times a day. So I’m VERY much looking forward to the real honeymoon!!
