A direct Quote from Fiance this afternoon. Here’s how it all went down.
Let me preface this by saying I. Love. Animals!
While at work today, (I work for a real estate developer) A resident comes in with the CUTEST little Maltese puppy and proceeds to tell me he is so sad to have to tell his daughter they have to give up their new puppy because his wife is allergic to it.
As I’m on the ground playing with this cutie the wheels start turning in my head. I want the dog! So I take a video of the dog and send it to Fiance And here’s what he texted me back:
Fiance: cute dog but no way
Me: call me
Fiance: NO WAY, can’t afford another mouth and all that goes with it
Me: but he’s sooo cute! And he loves me already
Fiance: Yeah…we know..all living creatures love you…should we build Noah’s Ark?
Fiance: Let’s have a baby then
This doggie isn’t taken care of very well and looks like it may be losing it’s hair. I wanna rescue it!
Is anyone an expert on the art of persuasion? Help!

SO CUTE! 🙂 Your Fiance and my husband would get along great. Same goes for me and you. 😉
We have seven pets. Three cats, two dogs, one ferret, and one hamster.
My husband just can’t say no to me. 🙂 But we obviously go through the steps first. Can we afford this animal? Can we afford the vet costs (including vaccines, yearly visits, ect.) Can we afford the food (and not cheap out on it.)? Do we have the time for this animal? (Although I am stay-at-home, so I have all day. lol Anyways, the list goes on.
If we can answer yes to every question, then my husband cannot say no. 😉 We obviously won’t be taking in anymore (unless we get our ferret a cage mate.)
Honestly one day (in 5 years or so) we plan to have a Silkie Chicken farm. And if we had a couple 100 thousand to spend, we would have an all out farm. haha
How many pets do you have? Do you guys feel you can give this dog the time it needs? The vet visits he/she will need? Will your other pets get along well with this dog?
Good luck! 🙂

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: HA! yes seems like we would get along! if I could convince Fiance to leave the city for country life we’d invest in your farm.
We can definitely afford this puppy. Fiance just has this “loyalty” to his dog Bogie, whom Fiance rescued, we spoil him:) he’s our baby. Fiance is afraid Bogie will not be down with another male roaming the house. When Fiance and I take trips( three times a year) Bogie goes to the pet hotel gets his own room with a TV etc.. It’s not cheap but Bogie’s worth it!
Honestly, If we weren’t getting married in 72ish days, I’m sure Fiance would say yes. It kills me to wonder what will happen to this poor cutie. I want to rescue him:( FI is napping, when he gets up I’m gonna call him and turn on the charm:)

Cry. Not kidding. That’s how I got to bring my dog home from the humane society, and my Fiance didn’t want a dog either. He loves her now, so it’s a happy ending.

This is Bogie the magnificent
ETA: Bogie gets along with other dogs and would enjoy the company:)… I think at least

@Taeyers: I will cry tomorrow when I ago to FI’s house for the weekend. LOl! I hope it works:). kudos To you for going the rescue route, there are soo many animals in need of love:(

Since you already rescued a dog I’m sure with some pressure your Fiance will crack. Just lay it on heavy that the pup isn’t well cared for and that you’re really concerned. Cryng wouldn’t hurt either 🙂

@adoc86: Yes! but I know Fiance is thinking of the wedding and boarding this new puppy along with Bogie for a week. UGG I didn’t tell Fiance this puppy isn’t potty trained yet. Fiance is a clean freak…that may be another hurdle 🙁

@Birdi: Awwww, Bogie is SO CUTE! 🙂
If you lived near me I would take you up on that farm offer! haha
Also I know this is a given but keep in mind on the up keep. (Not trying AT ALL to talk you out of him, and Bogie seems so spoiled, it is sweet! So I get the vibe that you guys are AWESOME fur parents!)
Feedings twice a day, cleaning up poop, pee and puke (the three lovely P’s.), fur brushings and trimmings, nail clipping (I clip my dog’s and ferret’s nails twice a week (once every TWO WEEKS. Sorry I was in a hurry writing this.) on my own) but groomers are great for that, too. As I am sure you know. 🙂 Daily dental care (raw hides, dental chews, whichever your dog likes.) Daily walks (or play times, since he/she seems like a little guy.) It is always a lot of work, but it is so rewarding! 🙂

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: We are perfect fur parents! FI will be a basket case if anything happens to Bogie..me too.
Idoubt Fiance will give in, We just talked. I’ll keep trying though:). If fate won’t allow us to help this puppy, I’m making it my mission to find decent, loving parents for him:( I’m sad. I wish we were already married. We’d have the whole summer to devote to these doggies:)
ETA: BOO HOO

@Birdi: Yea, I feel exactly the same! Awwwww, well if you cant talk him into it then at least you can look forward to a new doggy one day after you guys get married. 🙂 Finding him a good home is such an amazing thing to do! Not to long ago there was a dog at our local shelter I was so sad about I almost fostered him. But we cannot have anymore dogs now. I sent the shelter some rescue groups near by, but thankfully he found his forever home shortly after. Keep me updated on the lil baby with finding his home. Until then just keep enjoying sweet Bogie. 🙂
