I can understand why you don’t like her, but being that she plays an important part in your mom’s life, I would invite invite her to avoid confrontation.

Unfrtunately I think the majority of us are obliged to invite at least one person who we don’t exactly want at our weddings’. But we invite them in order to avoid hurting someone elses feelings, be it your mother or an uncle or whoever. I’d invite her to keep the peace, but definitely tell your mom to keep her quiet when it’s your time to shine.

Yes, you should invite her. Especially given your Mother is contributing to funding the wedding.

I would invite her.  Nothing that you said she does seems overly offensive, just impolite and a lack of awareness of her surroundings.  If this is your mother’s best friend and it’s a big deal to your mother, you should bite the bullet and invite her. You won’t even notice that she’s there.

Nope. Not if you’re only having 40 guests there. She’ll be able to work her usual evil comments on you, if there are a small amount of people there. You should have only people that both you and your Fiance know and like. And drop the $$$ contribution, from your mother. It’s not worth the aggravation.

My daughter and Future Sister-In-Law aren’t inviting one uncle from each side; they really have no relationship with them and in our case, both the bride and I said they’d be invited “over our dead bodies.” You need people there who will celebrate with you, not try to suck the life out of you, once again.

If your mom is only asking for this one friend to come then I would invite her.

If your mom has demanded that 15 other distant cousins, auints, neices, pet hampsters, daughters come plust half a dozen other friends then I would tell her no.

She does deserve a +1 to your wedding but not if shes already +30ed.

Janelle123:  My moms desire to have her friend there would trump my irritation with this woman. Nothing you described sounds like anything that you should be too concerned with. Your mom is an adult and sure you can tell her your opinion but it’s her decision on who she keeps friendships with. I would be respectful of the fact that your mom is clearly upset about it. Invite her, you probably won’t even notice her. And even if she is whispering to someone, she only makes herself out to be a rude guest.
