You may have gained muscle if you are working out. Muscle weighs more than fat.

I agree, you may have gained muscle. Do you feel that you look better? I hate scales because I feel like the number shouldn’t determine if you are fat or fit.

Well, if you[‘ve only been tracking for a week, it’s only healthy to really lose 1-2 pounds. WHich, depending on whether you’ve gone to the bathroom/eaten/drank a lot of water, etc inconsistently before weighing, wouldn’t really show up. Track it over time and see what happens. You average weight should decrease over time. Try to be consistent with when in the day you weigh yourself, and going to the bathroom before, etc etc. It can skew it 1-2 pounds.

ALso, a more accurate way to see yourself losing weight is to measure yourself, not weigh yourself. So maybe consider measuring your hips/waist/bust, etc instead.

Unless you are like 5 feet tall, 1200 calories might be too few for you.  Sometimes going under on calories can stall weight loss.

Also, three pounds can easily be water weight or other monthly fluxuations.  How much weight are you trying to lose?

For someone who is already near goal weight, the last few pounds can be tougher and require different strategy (exercise, weights, etc.) versus if you are trying to lose twenty or more.  Someone else already mentioned you could be losing inches instead of pounds, so you might consider measuring that way.

Regardless, watching what you eat and replacing the empty calories with water are great moves.  I think you need to think about the fact that you are adopting a healthier lifestyle, and you are definately successful there.  Be kind to yourself and give yourself some time.  This is a big adjustment for your body.

Yeah, are you eating 1200 total even with exercise?  So like 1200 food and then you could burn off 400 calories with exercise?  Because that seems low.

When I start working out I always gain weight before I start to drop. I never weigh myself the first two weeks I am working out because it is just demoralizing. 🙁 It always pays off in the end though. Hang in there!

@LizLemon:  Oh, then it’s just probably that it’s only been a week.  Hang in there and I’m sure you’ll lose soon 🙂

@LizLemon:  Yeah, it’s only been a week, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. However, I was doing net 1200 and it stalled my weight loss really badly. I upped to 1400 net and was much happier with my progress. You can friend me on MFP, same name as here. 🙂

Sometimes that happens when you start an exercise program.  If you’re PMSing, you could be retaining a little extra water as well.

Results are more important than pounds.  Last month I started working out, and I have not lost a single pound.  I’ve lost inches everywhere, though, to the point where people have been commenting on it.  So ignore that scale for a while.
