Sigh – I bought (sob!) Martina Liana 419 when I went shopping on my own. Pictured here with a belt:

And then my mother wanted to look at dresses with me . . . I found a sample of Mori Lee 1655 on super sale, and it had the sparkles of the Martina Liana with the benefit of straps. Hoping to sell the other, I guess?

(Photo found via Google; there’s another bee who has many lovely recaps and makes this dress look darn good, but I didn’t want to use her photos without permission).

Here’s my runner up:

And here’s THE ONE! I’m so in love!

I chose Allure 8764 because its a slip dress and the comfort made me start dancing whenever I put it on. It is just so easy to wear. The cap sleeves and wide neckline looked great on my broad shoulders. I felt timeless and natural. The runner up was Casablanca. It was very pretty but it had bones in it, and it made it feel bulky and stiff. with the open back it would be hard to get it to really hug me. I’m so thrilled with my choice!

@FutureMrsKyewski:  Thank you.  I’m just not in love and I’m really worried it’s not what he’s hoping for.  I have a super tight budget and I got my dress on clearance for $225, so that’s kinda how I ended up with it.  But it was a sample and needs about $500 in cleaning/repair/alterations.  I really wish I had a bigger budget and a better body.  LOL!

I am still up in the air. I really L O V E the Primor by Pronovias, however I dont know that its in the budget….that would be as much as our food budget!!!!  My backup is by Mori Lee. They are similar in shape and fairytale essence, but I still want the Primor!! And theres no way a replica could do it justice, sigh…

@msfreemis:  I’m watching too! I had too much input from my Fiance ( I asked to be fair) and now I think i bought the wrong dress. I would have chose something else if i could now!

I love this thread! I don’t have pictures of me in my runner up- we deleted them when I found the one. It was no contest! Here’s the runner up:

And here’s mine. It fit perfectly, no alterations needed! The only thing is I’m removing a pink belt that was on it, and replacing it with the one thats covering the pink.

The left one is the runner up….. the one on the right was THE ONE! I loved the tulle in the skirt, it made me feel awesome!

I bought this dress the weekend that I got engaged.  It’s the Kenneth Pool Lena.  I only tried on a handful of dresses and knew this was “the one”.  It was everything I wanted, except it wasn’t shaped right for my figure.  I took it to several seamstresses and tailors, but no one was confident that they could “fix” it to my satisfaction (I have a smaller frame, but a larger chest).  It made me sad I couldn’t wear my dream dress.

So then I went dress shopping with just a few weeks left to the wedding.  (Yikes, I know!)  Tried on maybe 3 dozen or so dresses since I had to buy off the rack, and fell in love with a Maggie Sottero.  The style is Alita.  It came as a halter or strapless, and I much preferred the strapless.  Don’t worry – the neckline doesn’t plunge as much in real life as on the model.  I added a blingy belt and it was gorgeous.

i don’t have pics, but for me it came down to a difference between polyester satin vs silk satin. i’m a redhead so the off-white of silk looked better on me.
