My friend is getting married in the spring, and I’m one of her matrons of honor. I have the dress and shoes already, but I have absolutely no idea what to do with my hair. Normally, I wouldn’t have a problem deciding, but the bride is wearing her hair down and curled with her birdcage veil. Her hair is about shoulder-length, and I don’t want to have some ridiculously elaborate updo–which, sadly, is what most stylists tend to do because I have a ton of hair. The last time I had my hair done for a wedding, it was a disaster and I felt ridiculous.
I’m planning on having my hair done that morning, mostly because I hate trying to put my own hair up. By June, I’m guessing my hair will reach almost to the middle of my upper arm (it grows rather quickly and has grown a couple of inches since the picture below was taken). It’s wavy, and there is a lot of it. My dress is kind of retro, so the challenge is finding an updo that is simple and retro-chic without being more elaborate than the bride’s hairstyle. At this point, I’m just gathering ideas. The hair’s not a huge deal, but I figure it’s better to look now than to scramble in the spring, when I’m job-hunting and whatnot.
Here’s the dress and shoes:
Please show me some hairstyles you think would look good with the dress. I’m cool with a half up/half down style, though I’d prefer something that will keep my hair off my neck, just in case it’s warm. Thanks, Bees!
