This was the very first wedding dress i tried on a week after I got engaged! It was the Disney dresses from alfred angelo. Belle 225 I believe. I thought it was too princessy for me! I think I deleted all the other pictures I had of dresses I said no to. I found this picture in a deep folder in my computer!!

First one: I don’t know WTH I was doing trying it on

Second one: Cost twice my budget and I felt it was too plain for me

Third: Was about to put a deposit down on it but changed my mind last minute at the register because I wasn’t in love with ALL of it. Super glad I didn’t rush into buying any of them!

These are 3 of the 30 dresses I didn’t purchase. I went to my first salon to try on a dress they brought to a bridal show. I knew it was going to be the one. But I didn’t want to try it on first, so I tried on several others, and even went to another salon to make sure it was the one I wanted. I ordered an Essence of Australia dropped waist gown. Cannot wait!

Here’s a few that didn’t make the cut!                                           This was my front runner at the first Bridal store I went to:          This was also a favorite, although the sample was too small and it hurt to breathe!  here’s another that didn’t make the cut:        And my dress. Everyone agreed that it blew my favorite from the first store out of the water.

Oh this is a fun game. I’ll play!

The runner up dress. I still have a soft spot for this dress, but just didn’t love it as much as I loved my own dress.

The other dress that I liked but didn’t fit me at all, Amara Rose by Maggie Sottero:

And the dress that took me by surprise. Not my taste, but it actually looked pretty good! πŸ™‚

And the awful dresses, oh they were awful!

And finally, the one that was and is my dream dress and that I got to wear on our wedding day πŸ™‚

operaninja:  I love seeing what people try on vs what they ultimately end up with!

Here was what I thought was my dream dress, minus the belt and in white:

My family didn’t like it and didn’t hide it, so then I found this gem while getting my Maid/Matron of Honor dress at David’s Bridal:

Oleg Cassini 2

I loved the detail and so did my family, so I thought I had a winner. But good thing I was in no rush to order it, because my circumstances changed and I ended up getting the most amazing gown at Kleinfeld:

Kleinfled - Say Yes_1

Still in love with my Iris Noble πŸ™‚

gtijenn:  I also tried on the Maggie Sottero Haven in blush! Didn’t take any pictures in it though because I couldn’t get past the color lol

This was the Zuhair Murad dress I got very emotional putting on, it just felt like The One, like I was a Bride, instantly. The £18,000 price tag (which in negotiation only got down to £12,000) prevented me from finally going for it. The Lazaro gown I eventually found was even better and half the price! (Top pics Zuhair Murad, bottom pics my Lazaro gown I bought). I went to quite a few bridal shops and found pretty much a favourite in all (except in Vera Wang, everything was just awful on me, stiff and costume-like). There was a Caroline Castigliano gown (also priced at £18,000 – I had a knack for picking out the astronomically priced in every store) with a bodice entirely made up of Swarovski crystals I was dying to have but so happy negotiations fell through on that one too, on the last visit I took sneaky photos (which I now can’t find) and realised the dress was super wrong for me and my style of wedding in Stockholm (all those crystals might’ve worked beautifully somewhere more glamorous like Cannes in South of France). Then there was another Caroline Castigliano gown, beautifully cut, simple lines, no embellishments, that nearly became My One (and at a fraction of the cost of the others – I think it was approx £3,000) coupled with an antique lace double tier cathedral veil (which also happened to come in at just shy of £3,000…) but well, my inner princess took over and I went for my strapless ruffled organza ivory-to-blush dream with a lace bodice covered in pearls and crystals!

Before I started dress shopping this Oscar de la Renta gown was my dream gown and I feel that what I bought was the basic shape of it but just More and Better πŸ€—πŸ‘°πŸŒΈ

operaninja:  let me just say as I was scrolling down to the dress that you actually bought and I came across that lovely winner of a gown and I literally GASPED… so yes it is breathtaking literally not figuratively. Great choice.
