I love capturing diamond fire! 3.43ct Emerald Cut diamond from Diamond Foundry
coffeeeee : Thank you! I honestly don’t know much about what to look for in EC’s, I just know when I see one whether I love it or not. Diamond Foundry sent me two stones to look at, this one and a smaller one that was smidge shallower (so it faced up about the same size) with a better symmetry grade (EX versus VG), and I just really preferred the way mine looked and performed in person.
I’ve always been drawn to step cuts, and have owned 2 asschers, but didn’t keep either one because I didn’t love them as much in real life as I did in pics and my imagination. I also tried a vintage emerald cut – same problem – I just didn’t love it in person because it went too dark across the middle and the leakage was apparent (despite being very well cut for an Art Deco era step cut). Then I found this baby and I realized that what I needed all along was a modern EC with a longer skinnier ratio (mine is 1.43). I could stare at it all day! And it throws so much more fire than the other step cuts I’ve owned. They really are each totally unique. I’ve bought and sold a lot of diamonds over the years, all mined (mostly antique), so it’s ironic that my forever stone wound up being a modern lab grown!
Fun post! I’ll play! 😉
Here’s mine! I love trying to catch shooting fire in pics.
