I just found out today that later next week I will be receiving a family heirloom ring that my grandmother has been saving for me since the day I was born. Now that my boyfriend and I have been talking engagement, she has decided it is the right time to present it to me so that we can use it as an engagement ring and save ourselves the thousands of dollars one is sure to cost. I am super excited, not only to be getting a free diamond engagement ring (boy, it sure takes a financial load off of our shoulders), but also because of the sentimal value the ring carries. I have actually never seen it before but I am sure I will love it since it is sparkly, a gift from my grandmother, and because of what it will symbolize (ring porn will be posted once I get it though). I cannot wait for the day that I too can pass it on.
Anyway, I would like to see the heirloom rings some of you ladies have. I am sure they are all beautiful!

Heirloom diamond from FI’s grandmother, new setting.
I love it, it’s my baby 🙂 I also know that if I ever lose it, I will be blacksheeped from the family! Just kidding… I hope

The big diamond in my engagement ring is my FMIL’s.
When Fiance proposed, he also gave me my nana’s wedding band, which we are planning on using for my wedding band.
I love heirloom diamonds and heirloom rings. There is so much meaning in them.

@futuremrskgt: Oh gosh! I never thought of it that way! I would hate to lose mine just because of the sentimental value, but I would hate to dissapoint my grandmother. No one else in the family knows the ring exists since my great grandmother and all of my great aunts and uncles on my grandmother’s side have passed away, so I don’t have to worry about anyone else in the family. I am sure if they knew I was getting the ring when I have 6 other cousins would be enough to get them all angry at me.
@MissGrey: AAw, I think that it is so sweet that your Future Mother-In-Law accepts and loves you so much that she gave you her diamond. I am also getting my grandmother’s wedding band but I am not sure if I will be wearing it with the engagement ring since they are not a matching set and I am not sure if they look well together. Maybe as a right hand ring.
