Mine isn’t a diamond but it’s a 0.50ct equivalent topaz. My finger is size 5 I think (UK size J).

Just curious…what made you change your mind? I was engaged before and had a .5ct round diamond (sorry, I didn’t keep any pictures). Between that failed engagement and my current engagement, I had a change of heart about wearing diamonds, so I went with a moissanite. Couldn’t be happier! πŸ™‚

This is mine – 0.42 and finger is 4 something (size I).

Also,  and while its completely your choice, you should go with what your heart is set one not what your mum thinks. Saying that,  if the reaction to you getting a moissanite would taint the happiness around your ring, then that would be a shame.

sarahrivka :  Not to pressure you or anything, but I don’t think those are good reasons not to go with moissanite. No one asks me if my ring is a diamond or not. I’ve told a few people it’s not actually diamonds, and they’re SHOCKED. I don’t think you’d have to explain anything unless you want to. Plus, it’s becoming more and more common for women to wear non-diamond e-rings anyway.

Does your mom’s opinion matter a lot to you? I know for a lot of women their mother’s opinion matters, but my mom knows I’m stubborn and will do what I want to do. She wasn’t even involved in the e-ring decision. I told her after we got engaged that it’s moissanite, and she didn’t even blink an eye. Like me, she loves how sparkly it is. If your mother’s opinion matters a lot to you and she just won’t be convinced, then I understand wanting to go with the diamond, but if you’re against wearing a diamond (even if your mother doesn’t understand your choice), I would still get the moissanite because it’s ultimately you and your future-FI’s decision and it will be on your finger for (hopefully) the rest of your life.
