I am considering a splash of color (like a ribbon) on my wedding dress because I find white to be boring, and I love bright colors. Also our wedding will be a bit non-traditional (short and sweet, non-religious). Fiance doesn’t care what I wear.
I am also considering a colored or white/colored dress for the reception. I love turquoise.
Show me your dresses ladies! Any recommendations? Thanks π

adreamdeferred : i love the dip dyed dresses – they feel very of the moment. The colored ribbon/sash just feels very 10 years ago to me.

I’d try to keep the ribbon sort of cute and make sure it does not overpower the dress.

adreamdeferred : I had a swing dress with a bright orange crinoline. Looking back I wish I’d had a sash as well, because my dress was a little too long. Anyway I loved having the color. If you went that route for your reception, you could easily do it for under $200 and be comfy all night long – as opposed to hauling the weight of a gown around to dance.

My dress! Not as colorful as your looking for but it has a colored lining, wrap and lining under the lace. Love it! Truvelle has some other quite different dresses

I am a big fan of non-white dresses and/or splashes of color! I loved the ones you posted ^_^
My dress isn’t SUPER non-traditional, in my opinion, but almost everyone I’ve shown it to seems to think it is haha (probably because it isn’t white?)
The dress I picked is a dark blush color (it’s actually a little darker in real life than what shows in the picture) with rose gold details. I am so in love with it (and it’s arriving in less than a month! YAY!)
Obviously a model in the pic haha but here it is π

I am all about the color! My dress is a peachy blush, and I love it.
I like the ombre peacock the best, but I think anything with color will be fun and unique

That last one (dip-dyed) is to DIE for. Completely gorgeous.

adreamdeferred : Love that you started this thread! I’m not wearing white but can’t decide on what exactly either! I love the idea of a wine colored dress! Dip dyed like the one you linked would be beautiful!

I’ve got a short white dress and I’m having a yellow and black sash sewn onto it. The sash is actually 2 ribbons, one wide yellow one and a narrow black one, that are sewn together first to give the impression of yellow and black stripes like a bumblebee.
I’ve also attached gold and black ribbon roses to the comb of my veil for the ceremony and am going to wear a gold and black ribbon rose in my hair when I take the veil off.
Even if you end up liking a white dress, there’s loads of ways to get a splash of color in. You can add a sash with color, a colored petticoat (this would work best for a short dress since it’ll be more visible), colored shoes, or a colored veil.
If I didn’t have my mom’s veil, I’d want to do something like this https://www.etsy.com/listing/608414213/multi-colored-secret-garden-white-tulle?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=floral%20bridal%20veil%20embroidered&ref=sr_gallery-1-2

That bumblebee theme in your outfit sounds super cute! ππ
I am curious, I noticed that apart from your wedding theme your nickname also has to do with bumblebees, so I assume that they have a special meaning till you. I think it is really sweet that you incorporate them in your wedding that way, especially if there is some kind of sentiment behind it? Would you mind sharing what makes you adore them that much? π»π
OP!
Nr 3 (purple with butterflies) looks the best imo, it’s flirty, cute and “modern”, in the sense that it could be a fun high end designer couture piece! And I like that look/feel very much! The other ones might end up looking a bit dated to be honest.
My second fave would be nr 6. Make sure the church and venue you pick has a dark blue carpet in the same hue as the bottom of the dress cause that would look magical! π€©π§β¨

Overall I love the “Tiffany/White” the best, but it’s from Italy π Probably out of my budget too haha. Why don’t these sites have prices?
claroquesi : Mermaid (aka trumpet/fit & flare). I haven’t tried any on yet though.
catskillsinjune : Thanks for that! I didn’t think about the ribbon looking dated, but perhaps it depends on the dress.
skunktastic : Nice! Yes, I like the idea of a separate reception dress because A) It will be on a different day than the wedding (back home as opposed to the “destination”) and B) I don’t plan to spend too much on the wedding dress, and want to have freedom to dance and be comfortable. It could be my only chance to wear the 50s swing dress style that I love so much! (Think White Christmas)
kimmacph : Thanks for the company tip!
citizenerased14 : It seems blush is becoming pretty popular!
mrsholland21718 : Interesting. Didn’t know that the trend isn’t shying away from color, love it!
I love this one, but the sleeves aren’t what I want:

bayoubee : and
sapphirefire : Yes, the ombre/dip dye thing seems to be more popular than I realized π
bumblebug : Sounds cute. Oh that is a unique veil! Nice. Yes, I’m sure a splash of color wouldn’t be too hard π
