adreamdeferred :  Here’s an idea that combines your wish to incorporate color – particularly your love of turquoise – as well as having a reception dress that would be comfortable for dancing; you could also use the same accessories for both:

I love my wedding dress! Its iviry and hold and doesn’t feel overly bridal.

I also recommend dip-dye! I dip-dyed my wedding dress myself and I love how it came out, I also love blue and was desperate for some colour in my wedding dress ๐Ÿ™‚

bibilicious :  No problem at all. It’s actually pretty cheesy. But when my fiance and I first started dating I drew a doodle of us with him as a ladybug and me as a bumblebee. It kind of stuck and those are our nicknames for eachother.

We figured we’d incorporate the theme into our wedding colors. So my whole side of the family has yellow and black flowers in their boutonnieres while his has red and black. And my engagement ring is red and black (so it’s like I’m wearing a reminder of him) and his is yellow and black.

Basically, we’re just really sappy people ๐Ÿ™‚

adreamdeferred :  Have you looked at prom or formal event dresses? Even though wedding dresses are incorporating more color, it tends to be lighter. If you want more bold color you could get a dress that’s not officially a wedding dress.

apracticalbride :  Did you follow a tutorial/set of instructions?  Or just wing it?  I’d LOVE to get more info because I want a pop of color just like yours!  It’s BEAUTIFUL!

Rachel Jennie :  Oh bee, I am so happy you posted your gown, again! I have never seen one quite like it. It’s gorgeous!

Yessss! Following this thread, bees. Most of the colourful wedding gown threads are 6 years old.

Alas, I don’t have my own dress, yet. Here’s a few blue gowns that I like. The last might be my top favorite.

lmcbingham :  Thank you! I didn’t follow one specific tutorial, but I did do A LOT of research about what kind of dye to use (it’s different depending on the fabric), how long to dye it, etc. etc.

What I did differently to a lot of the ‘ombre tutorials’ I found was, instead of using one colour blue and slowly removing the dress to create a fade, I bought four different blues, which made it a lot easier.

Wai Ching gowns are white with bright colors, eco-friendly, and made in the US.  Some can also be customized- the color/pattern/length of the train, how high the color goes on dip dye gowns, type of straps, etc.  There is a real bride section for more pictures, but not all the dresses are properly labeled.

I’m sorry bee, those dresses remind me of the 90’s.
