I made a cute cross stitch of us with our name and wedding date and had guests sign the mat around it. Not sure yet where we’ll display it but I’m so happy to have something that, as you said, won’t just get stuck in a drawer and forgotten about.

My best friend and maid of honor makes really cool guestbooks with trees and lovebirds, and then people put their fingerprints on and sign, like they are little birds. She is going to make us something a little different, drawing little icons to represent places we have gone and things we have done, and then we are going to put a picture of us in the middle and have everyone sign in the empty spaces around the pictures.

Kinda hard to see, but ours was a world map (we used permanent gold and opaque white markers for signing)

bananastand:  Thank you! Cross stitching is a great beginner’s craft. Plus there are tons of funny and irreverant patterns out there so it’s not just for old ladies anymore. I hope you have fun with it! I totally stole the idea from someone on Etsy because, even though her work was beautiful, I didn’t want to pay for something I could do myself. So I used her designs as inspiration and came up with a pattern for us. I’ve come up with a few patterns on my own as presents and since I’ve been cross stitching since I was a kid it wasn’t too hard!

I will be having a patchwork quilt! I just sent it in to get our names and wedding date added. Should be done here in a week or two. The shop owner said that we could add a photo so still deciding on that. Our wedding is next may so we still have some time. When it comes in i will post a photo!

We did a globe and asked people to sign next to where they thought we should travel to next ๐Ÿ™‚ We still have it sitting on our dining table; I like looking at it!

anothernewbee16: my fiancé and I had the same thoughts about the guest book so instead I contacted this really great  caricature artist in our area and we are getting him to draw us (me in my dress, Fiance in his tux) and our guests will get to sign the white frame around it. I always loved these types of drawings and always get a laugh so this way we can hang it in our house after the wedding. It should look something like this!

taylorraye13:  We are buying one of those Peachwik trees for our guest room!  We thought it would be fun to have our friends and family sign when they come visit us.  We live in Nashville and all of our family lives in Michigan, Texas or Florida.  ๐Ÿ™‚

We are renting a photo booth since Fiance and I are huge photo buffs!  We added on the guest book where they put the photos from the booth into a book and the guests sign it with a message.  That’s the only kind of guest book I would really look through since it is photos and everything.   ๐Ÿ™‚

We are music lovers and had people sign a guitar. We also found green strings so it matched our wedding colors black and green. ๐Ÿ™‚ It looks great next to all of our other guitars!12751552_239124416421273_456262952_n
