I love coloured stones. We went with something very traditional for my ering, but I found this sapphire v band second hand on ebay to use as an alternate wedding band and I love it

elenasaf :  That ring is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet some bees come here and read that you are going to wear the diamond as a RHR and gasp! HAHA… I am the same way though! I like diamonds.. just prefer gemstones as a main stone.

I don’t have a light blue stone… but I do have a midnight blue sapphy.. so it’s still blue, and depending on the light the color shifts from a royal blue to almost black

teacher-bee-in-the-sea :  Your Montana Sapphire is so, so pretty! I love the color. Was it lighter in person or darker? Or was the online photo spot-on for the color and saturation? I purchased a pink Montana Sapphire from that site for my daughter’s birthday ring, and it is a gorgeous stone. (It’s small — about .40ct equivalent, as that’s what she requested.) I love looking on that particular site and browsing all of their Montanas!! *.*

elenasaf :  Your aquamarine is lovely! It has such pretty sparkle, and looks beautiful on you. Blue is my favorite color, too.

My engagement ring is diamond, and pretty much all of the jewelry from my husband (we’ve been married for 21 years and together as a couple for 29, so I’m “old” — LOL) has been diamond. Up until the last couple of  years, when I fell down the colored gemstone rabbit hole. It turns out I love them even more than diamonds! (Not that I don’t love diamonds. I pretty much love any sparkly gemstone. ^.~)

I have a London Blue Topaz solitaire, although that is a dark blue. For lighter blues, I have a couple of blue zircons. One is in a right hand ring. The other is a loose stone that will go into a solitaire setting at some point next year (I hope!).

Right Hand Ring: Blue zircon set in 14K white and rose gold.

And my loose zircon. I dont have any great pictures of it yet. I’m still trying to capture it. It’s a little over 5ct equivalent.

elenasaf :  Thanks! I love zircon. I feel like it’s kind of an underrated gemstone. It has a decent hardness, and comes in a variety of colors. Blue is probably the most popular. And maybe the most common? But I’m not sure of that. I’ve seen gorgeous yellows online (which I wanted to buy but couldn’t — ha, ha!), and I have a brown-orange one. I think of it as a dark honey color. The blues I have are beautiful in any kind of light. My loose stone has a great cut, so it has a lot of life and sparkle. The one in my right hand ring is a lovely stone, but not as good of a cut. It’s still a vivid color, but it doesn’t have as much sparkle.

I am already plotting and planning the setting for my loose zircon. It’s going to be in white gold, with a snow or snowflake theme to the setting. I have to wait a little while before I can have it made, because I ended up doing two ring projects this year. One was planned (for my daughter’s 16th birthday). The other was unplanned, but happened because I got some extra money from a legal settlement. My husband is pretty tolerant of my jewelry adventures, but even he said I have to wait a bit for my next project. Ha, ha!
