I was considering hiring a make-up artist to do my wedding day make-up, however, I figured I could save that $200+, go on a shopping spree at my local bare escentuals store and have my MOH(who is really good at doing make-up) do it for me. I would probably take her with me also, so that the consultants can show her how to correctly apply everything.
Good Idea? Bad Idea?
Show me your wedding day make-up using Bare Minerals products!

I have an alternitive for you.. on the day of.. my girls and I are going to the MAC counter to have our make up done. I am gifting all the girls with gift cards $50 from mac. How it works is.. you get your makeup for free when you buy 50$ worth of product. This way.. all the girls get the products they like AND their make up done by a pro. If you have a different brand that you like.. maybe they do some kind of the same promo?

@MrsNeutrino: Great idea!
@chelles07: I wear Bare Minerals daily and although it is an amazing product for normal wear I don’t personally feel it photographs well. I also have an issue with it lasting the entire day versus other make up I have worn.
I might recommend that you check out MAC (if your skin doesn’t break out easily) or Make Up Forever.

I had just inquired about Bare Escentuals makeup the other day at Sephora and I was told that though BE is a great everyday makeup, it does not photograph well and it’ll make you look washed out in photos, and cause your face to look whiter than the rest of your body (e.g. neck). So just something to consider!
Also if you have a Sephora nearby, they do wedding makeup by appointment and all you need to do is buy $50 worth of products or a $50 gift card.

One more vote against BE as your wedding day makeup. It looks gorgeous in real life but in photos you’ll have ghost face! And that’s not how you want to remember your wedding day 🙂

@Happy Donut: Agreed, that is what I had said above. I do wear it daily and from personal experience it doesn’t photograph as nicely as I would want for my wedding day.

I’ve always heard like the other ladies said that BE does not photograph well because of the Mica, i think it is, that is an ingredient. I could have the wrong ingredient. But whatever it is gives that ghost face look in photos. I bought DiorFlash and had a friend do my makeup and use that. It is a spray foundation that gives you an airbrushed look. It is expensive, but I use it for special occasions and my face looks flawless and it stays all day.
