I was absolutely adamant that I would NOT wear a strapless dress…I wanted a V-neck matte satin A-line with ruching and some bling on an empire waist. I really wanted lace somewhere but couldn’t figure out how to incorporate it into the look.
Last week, I had to go to a town about an hour away for work and saw a bridal shop on the main square. I found a dress that fit all those criteria, except that I’d have to put a blingy belt around the waist….no big deal. I didn’t buy it, as I was alone and wanted either my mom, best friend or sister to take a look before I did and was going to plan an excursion up there with one or all of them. However, a GORGEOUS lace bolero caught my eye as I was leaving and the consultant and I placed it over the hanger….I fell in love but realized that it looked tacky with the straps showing through. I went shopping with my mom and sister this past weekend, we were casually looking around the fun shops in one of the older areas of town and we noticed there was a bridal shop there. We went in and 30 minutes later I had bought a dress (a sample gown) , and arranged and put a depost on 2 boleros that the store owner and I will design in January. One lace for the ceremony, and one matte satin for the reception. My dress is ruched matte satin with a sweetheart neckline, empire waist, and a beautiful lace skirt with a train that is going to be bustled for everything but pictures! Since we are having our ceremony and reception in the same place, I am SO excited to be able to change up the look a little bit. We are on a fairly tight budget, our ceremony and reception are at a nature lodge, and our theme is vintage rustic. Therefore, I didn’t want anything too flashy, for lack of a better word. 🙂
Please show me your boleros and shrugs, and I would love to hear why you decided to wear them on your special day! I need ideas 🙂 Thanks ladies!!
