This is my DIY bouquet from Flower Moxie. I was completely OBSESSED with my bouquet and the smallerish versions of this my bridesmaids carried. My color schedule was “dusty pastels” and the colors tied in perfectly for an early spring wedding.
Uh I loved my bouquet! Fresh flowers obviously. Nothing else ever crossed my mind. We eloped to Hawaii and I wanted some local flowers so it had to be Plumeria! They smell so heavenly 😍 and then there where green and white orchids and another Hawaiian flower but I can’t come up with the name right now. It was the perfect bouquet for our little beach wedding at a secret cove.
So I knew I could take it back home with me and I didn’t want to just throw it in the trash. So a couple of fays after the wedding we went back to the cove and I planed on throwing the flowers from the bouquet and my lei into the ocean. While I was taking some last minute pictures a woman approached me and asked me where I bought my flowers and if I could recommend her a florist. I told her I didn’t know where they came from and that I ordered it through my wedding coordinator. She had an accent so I asked her where she was from. They came from Germany to get married on Maui and then travel around the US for their honeymoon. I lived for the longest time in Germany and that’s also where I met my husband. We started talking and she loved my bouquet so I just started plucking out the plumeria which had wilted but other than that it was fresh as a daisy and then gave her my bouquet. She was so happy. So was I. She later sent me her wedding pictures with „our“ flowers. And she also went back to the cove and threw the flowers into the ocean as I planned to do 😊
and another short bouquet story. I was at a bad place in my life. Relationship wise. I was invited to a wedding. Minus a plus one. I was not happy. Then the bride was throwing her bouquet and I was standing amidst all those girls eager to get married and catch the bouquet. Well. It hit me right in the face. 4 days later I met my husband. I kept the flowers all this time and when we moved a couple of month ago my mom kept them and threw them in the river on the day we got married.
During planning, I was very indecisive about the flowers because I did not have any particular vision in mind. So in the end, I just went with all white because I was feeling burned out already from thinking about flowers. Haha. Looking back, I probably should have chosen a colored bouquet to differentiate myself more from the bouquets of my bridesmaids. :p Our color palette was blue and there were not many natural blue flowers here in the Philippines. I did not want spraypainted flowers so in the end I just went with all white.
