I only had a Maid/Matron of Honor, so my photos probably won’t help you. I would let your bridesmaids choose their dress within the same length & colour palette, unless you are paying for their dresses.

I picked three shades of coral to go with my bouquet, gave guidelines of long and not strapless, and let my girls pick their own styles. I’m very pleased with how it came out.

I gave my girls a choice of 4 fabrics, and any dress from David’s Bridal they wanted. They all happened to choose the same color, but their dresses look great!

Big believer in letting bridesmaids have a say about their own dress, within a palette and a style. Different shapes and sizes in the identical dress can be very disheartening for some who may be working on body image issues. Varying skin tones suit different shades (I look like death warmed up in beige and most light neutrals). Some women like a bit more coverage than others too. I also think it makes the photos much more interesting.

These women are our friends and should be treated as such. If they are really happy in their dress it makes your wedding day even better for the whole party.

I let my girls pick their own styles 🙂 I chose the color (one for the bridesmaids and a special color for my MOH) and told them I preferred floor-length. They did the rest! (I had a guy friend on my side too, with a tie to match the bridesmaid dress color)

missweasel :  let them decide since it doesn’t sound vital to you. I gave mine a choice of three dresses and they decided they’d rather match, so that’s what we did. No big deal. I think weddings are trending away from matching overall. Better to flatter every body type

I picked out the colors and fabric and let my bridesmaids choose their dress styles. It was important the me that they loved them and would be able to wear them on other occasions 🙂

My girls wore the same dresses but my sister/maid of honour chose a different neckline to differentiate herself. The girls chose to wear matching styles but they also tried on the form fitted style of the same dress before deciding which one to have made. I think the trend is definitely mix and match these days but also do what will line up with your vision for your wedding – I wanted a certain look (although my girls chose their necklines) and they were all happy to go with that. Good luck!

I asked my girls to wear long dresses in the same color but they were able to choose whichever style they wanted. I think they all looked great!

I was going for a more traditional look so I had then all wear the same dress that I thought would be flattering on everyone. It definitely cut down on a lot of stress. No one complained or said anything. Birdy Grey has some good options.

I haven’t actually ordered mine yet, but my bridesmaids are picking their own dresses in the color and length I wanted. My 4’11” little cousins and my 5’9″ roommate aren’t going to look like they’re wearing the same dress even if it is the same style, so I didn’t see a point in making them match

I am letting my girls wear whatever they want (floor length and no prints) and sent them 9 different colors to choose from.

Not entirely sure how i am going to ensure they all choose different colors, but i have a separate post up about that if anyone wants to chime in! 🙂

I’m not getting married until February, but I let my bridesmaids pick whatever black dress they wanted off Azazie. They just came in the mail and no one has their alterations done yet, but these are the styles everyone picked:

We have 2 bridesmaid dresses purchased and one more to go! My instructions included:

    – Choose whatever style makes you feel most beautiful.

    – Purchase a dress at whatever price point you feel most comfortable spending.

    – The colour is to be a shade of Sage.

    – The material is to be chiffon.
