Hi Bees!
My boyfriend and I are looking at engagement rings. He’s planning on proposing before the end of the year. I’m interested in getting an engagement ring from Brilliant Earth – specifically the Sonora Halo Ring with a princess cut diamond – because they are ethically sourced and seem to be better quality for the price, compared to regular jewellery stores.
Just wondering if any Bees have received an engagement ring from the site and if you are happy with your ring? Feel free to share photos of your ring as well! I’d loved to see them.
Also, has anyone had their ring for a while? Are you still happy with it? Has it turned cloudy at all?
We’re nervous because there is only a 30 day guarantee on rings from Brilliant Earth.
Thanks in advance Bees!

smittee27: I don’t have one but there’s a couple things about Brilliant Earth:
1. They have some of the most breathtaking jewelry I have ever seen.
2. They’re really expensive. Make sure to thoroughly comparison shop before making a final decision. I’m pretty certain the majority of that extra cost is a reflection of being ethically sourced, so it’s up to you what you’re willing to pay for it.

I don’t have a brilliant earth ring but I do have an ethically sourced Canadian diamond from Birks and in comparison to what we paid, brilliant earth has excellent prices.

I lost my wedding rings last year and got an insurance settlement. I came VERY close to replacing it with their willow set in white gold with a 3/4 ct emerald cut diamond. I ultimately decided to work with a local jeweler and got a Stuller ring, but it was a close call.

mezmryzed: I luuuuuv the willow rings and have been dreaming of a RHR with the emerald accents. Sorry you lost your wedding rings though. I did too, they got stolen but as I had divorced by that time it wasn’t such a hit lol. Now, if someone steals my new engagement ring, there is going to be trouble.

As I’m considering a willow ring, I was curious enough to look them up on Yelp. Here’s a link to the SanFran store. If you decide to go with them, can you let us know how you went? Thanks!

smittee27: I have a Brilliant Earth ring. It’s vintage. After researching, Brilliant Earth was the only place we decided to shop. If not for falling in love with my vintage, we were going to go with a lab princess cut diamond because I wanted nothing to do with any sort of DeBeers diamond. I’ve had mine since September and still love it. I’ve also ordered my fiance’s platinum band from there.
I do disagree with a PP who said they are expensive. We found that to be quite the opposite, especially since we were dealing with platinum. They are considerably cheaper than any place we looked….of course we didn’t look on etsy or anything like that. They use recycled metals. Here’s a (very bad) pic of mine in wooden box it came in…

I have the Willow ring and I love it! I can’t seem to get a good pic with my Iphone and I cant find my good camera :/ Anyway, here is a link to one almost like mine except mine is platinum and a tad bigger ๐ http://www.brilliantearth.com/media/recently_purchased/4C/48458.jpg
Its SO comfy, it is rounded so it never digs in, LOVE LOVE LOVE it ๐ Also the ethical thing was a big one for me, we ended up doing a lab created diamond because that is what we both wanted. The side stones are natural but still ethical ๐ Good luck girlie!

AussieEncore: Thanks, it was a real bummer, but I’m SO glad we had them insured.
The willow looks spectacular with an oval cut and litte green emerald leaves.

Aquaria: Thanks! Brilliant Earth actually seems to be less expensive than what we’ve seen at the Jewellery Stores. They also don’t sell low clarity diamonds (according to their website) whereas the jewellery store diamonds in the same price point (around $2,000 – $3,000 price range) seem to be of the lowest clarity. I’m in Canada, so not sure if the jewellery store pricess vary by a large amount in other countries.

blue996: Lucky! I’m sure your’re ring is beautiful. We looked at Birks, but they are REALLY expensive compared to some of the other jewellery stores. I love thier rings though and they have great warranties. I would feel too guilty getting a ring at Birks prices. Maybe one day though. ๐
