Looking for cake design ideas. Not sure when I turned into a bridezilla, but apparently I am very particular about what I do and don’t want on/in our cake. Fiance has about the same taste that I do and cares more about flavor than design. I am listing what I am looking for in a cake, but want to see any cake – yummo!
I do NOT want any roses. Our flower is calla lilly that doesn’t necessarily have to be on the cake. All the cakes I look at are so flower oriented.
It is buttercream frosting.
Not too many scrolls. Scrolls on fondant are one thing, but with buttercream I feel like they can start looking cheesy.
I like clean/modern lines.
Not afraid of color – our colors are a dark teal and sangria, with silver accents. Maybe even some peacock.
Hope I didn’t offend anyone. And cakes with these details can be stunning, just not what I want for my cake.

@emviamama: Our cake was a lemon sponge cake with starwberry buttercream icing (oh and lots of strawberries inside!)
We covered the entire outside with the buttercream icing, and then covered that with fondant (so the buttercream icing doesn’t dry out)
I don’t like fondant very much…. so it was nice to have the icing on the inside 😉

@O.My.Heart: Those flavors are so good together! Your cake is very elegant!

@emviamama: This is the pic we showed our baker, which they will hopefully replicate! We’re having our florist put fresh pink peonies on the cake as well.

@emviamama: Our venues event coordinator was/is also the menu designer/(trained chef) and he created our cake for us as a surprise. He never made this specific one before but always wanted to. I told him I didn’t have a specific design/vision so I let him loose. We had a very modern chic wedding so I just wanted something simple. The flavors were:
Bottom: marble cake with peanut butter/nutella butter cream frosting
Middle: lemon cake with coconut and cream cheese buttercream frosting (my own flavor creation I told him I wanted lol)
Top: red velvet cale with chambort liquor cream cheese buttercream frosting.

Our cake was a Bavarian Cheese Cake with butter cream frosting. We dont have our pro pics back but the table was decorated with all of the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets.

I loved our cake. It was exactly what I wanted.

@kat912: I love the simplicity of the ropes (?) around your cake. Have thought about doing something similar. Might have to write that one down.
@shanbp: Well he did a very good job! And those flavors!! Luckily someone brought in a cake today at the office, so I can indulge a little.
@Luvnseptember: Beautiful! And I love the cake stand. I wanted the whole cake to be edible, but the bling on there is so cool!
@Krispi: So pretty and the details in the bow make the cake, IMO.
Keep them coming ladies!!

Our cake was thrown in for free as a surprise from the caterer. Not the prettiest, but to us it wasn’t worth spending hundreds on something you’re gonna cut up and destroy.

Some beautiful cakes here already. Ours was kinda simple, it was buttercream and had color, no flowers either 🙂 It wasn’t a glamorous cake by any means but man did it taste DELICIOUS!!!!

I loved ours. Clean and classy 🙂 Everything was buttercream except for the fondant black ribbon, and the brooches.

I really like that my cake had hexigonal shapes in it, made it more interesting.

@emviamama: this was mine! We didn’t pick out the design, it came with the package, so we got whatever they gave us
