me and my guy are having issues deciding what we want our cake to look like. everything i come up with or show him pictures of stuff i like, he doesnt like. i ask him what he wants and he says he doesnt know. so i was hoping you guys can help me out and post lots of cake pics so i can show him some ideas. we got some cake flowers already that are just one small bouquet of white and blue roses and then 2 smaller ones that are just 2 roses each. and then we have rose petals to scatter around either on the cake or around it. we also got a cake topper but its kinda tall so we might not be putting that on the cake, maybe just on the table. so please post some pics of your cake or cake inspirations. thanks!

This was the cake inspiration picture I sent to the pastry chef at my venue. 😀 He nailed it, it turned out almost EXACTLY like this!
It was beautiful and delicious… the only downside… Darling Husband says he ate too much and had green poop for two days from the food coloring! Hahahaha
Our toppers were custom made clay figurines our favorite anime couple, from etsy. 🙂

@jbbs1222: I hard a hard time deciding on a cake. And like all other parts of my wedding i always found something i didnt like in my inspiration pics. What i’ve learnt to do is take certain things from different photos and put them together. My invitations were made from 4 pics, hair from 3, placecards from 2 and so on. My cake will also be from 2 photos.
I think firstly you need to ask a range of smaller questions rather than the big question of “what do you want”. Once you figure out the smaller elements you can work on finding inspiration to create your cake based on the foundation you both agreed on.
- Do you like fondant or buttercream?
- Do you like smooth or textured?
- How many tiers?
- Square, round or a mix of both?
- Do you want the icing/fondant to be a crisp white/ivory or do you want colour
- Do you like stenciling, appliques, quilting, accents or other various effects?
- Do you want every tier to be different or the same?
- Do you want a simple cake or a complex cake?
- What overall look are you going for elegant, classic, vintage, chic, modern?
I will post some inspiration for you shortly but i hope some of this helps.

This is my inspiration pic, that I think I stole from another bee…thank you wherever you are! I’ll use a red rose and a black ribbon instead.

I am not a fan of fondant (even though it is pretty) because I think it tastes gross. So I want a buttercream cake. I love how simple yet elegant this cake looks and I want to have different flavored cupcakes to go with the cake.
