mswaves:  Your ring is lovely. I’m interested to see the front/side profile of your ring.  Is this a basket/cathedral type setting?

MrsA44:  It is a1.86ct diamond, H color. David Klass made the setting based on my design. The shank it 2mm and the ring size is 4.5. The wedding band is a vintage band with french cut diamonds. Added a side view pic of the solitaire  ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you everyone for all the info!! This has easily been the most informative thread!!

sc5645:  YES!! thats the one – the way the facets are so symetrical is one of the things i love about it (and how it creates that diamond shape pattern in the middle  ohhh SWOOON)

I’m actually so relieved i found it (and know what to look for now), i was starting to think i was abit crazy (atleast some people were trying to make me feel like i was), insisting it looked different to, the few, other cushions ive seen in person!

Your stone is absolutely gorgous! Was it hard to source?  Does it face up overly small – the cushion curse?

DrunkInLove:  Thank you for that article! it is easily the most informative and straight forward one of I’ve read – definitely putting it aside to show SO at a later date!!!

Thanks again everyone – sorry for threadjacking OP

Ladies – keep those pics coming

BoopM:  Yes, the stone was very hard to source. Part of the problem is that you can’t identify it from a GIA report, you can get close, but you need to see photos to confirm the faceting.

My stone, and one other slightly smaller and lower color, was all that I have been able to find so far (I bought it pretty recently.) They are very, very hard to find in larger sizes and when you do find one they’re $$$. My stone is a .78 I/VS2.

Actually, this is one make of cushion that does not face up that much smaller than a round. The faceting is closer to a Round Brilliant, so you don’t end up with a stone that’s as deep.

I have a set of parameters that tend to produce likely candidates, if you’re really interested in finding one.

princesserbear:  I LOVE your halo (and I’m not a huge fan of halos).  It is so understated and keeps the focus on the main stone!

heputaringonit:  Thank you so much! I also like how delicate it is, same with the band. My favorite part is the filigree on the side, but I adore it pretty much all-around ๐Ÿ™‚

sc5645:  if you could send me that it would be great! I’m not actively looking ATM, but he will be soon hopefully.

i just need to work out a way to casually bring up – “ohh so babe you know how I wanted you to pick the ring when  it’s time and all that. But I’ve actually now fallen madly in love with a stone shape, although not the normal cushion but a very specific, rare version of the cut. It will be really hard to source and very expensive” without sounding like an absolute mad woman! HAHAHA LOL

although from what you have said I can atleast now cross off “ohh and btw it will look significantly   smaller than your sisters round brilliant ring of the same size..” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Haha jokes aside SC Thanks again for all your help – you have been amazing!

I literally went through hell and back trying to get my jewler to do my very simple setting correctly and I never ended up posting my finished ring.

my ring size is 4.5 and my stone is a 1.05 elongated cushion. measurements are 6.30 x 5.18 x 3.72 and I think because of the size of my fingers and the shape of my stone, it makes my stone look bigger than it actually is. my band isn’t pave but my wedding band will be very soon. I’m still deciding if I want the band on my engagement ring to be pave as well. have you already gotten your ring or are you still looking? it took me forever to find the perfect stone because every other cushion that I saw in person was always a perfect square or close to it and i really wanted the elongated style.

this is one of the 4 times I got my ring back and the prongs were not all the same length or size and my stone was crooked/lopsided

these two last pictures are what my ring looks like now. I finally gave up and told them to just stop trying to fix it because it just seemed like they weren’t putting much effort into doing it correctly and werent really taking pride in their work before sending it out into the world for people to see all of their mistakes and carelessness. I plan on going through brian gavin and getting the ‘grace’ setting and also getting a pave wedding band. right now I just have a plain band and I was thinking of getting pave on my engagement ring band but I think since it is a solitaire i may end up just keeping that one plain so that it still holds its timeless and classic look that I love so much.

I did the same. That’s why I love James Allen since we could see all the real pictures of cushions.

 Love elongated cushion cuts!
